My wife and I take turns putting the account in our names every 2 years. We just alternate.

You're right. The standard plan doesn't include unlimited data. Most states have a 1.2TB/month soft data cap -- some North Eastern states are exempt from that data cap I believe. From what I understand, users who go over the data transferred per month are given one warning if they go over it the first time. The next months if they do go over the limit, they'll get charged something like $10 overage fee per 50GB, maximum of $100 overcharge fee. See: https://www.xfinity.com/support/a...ceed-usage

However, I am seeing that the Xfi Complete addon is available for $10/month extra bringing the total costs up to $35/month. For $35/month this plan still seems worth it with unlimited data and higher upload speeds (for select regions [reddit.com])***.

If anyone is going with this plan, I do recommend getting this "Xfi Complete" as it unlocks unlimited data caps (as opposed to 1.2TB without it), and it also unlocks upload speeds which for me tested out to be around 115Mbps, as opposed to something much less like 10Mbps without. For me, this add-on is essentially a required item.

For anyone's existing network setup, I actually didn't have to configure and/or make much changes to my network settings either. With Xfinity's gateway, I just logged in and switched to Bridge mode, which essentially made it a modem-only and then connected my router via ethernet wired, and everything worked as per my previous configuration I had with my previous internet service provider.

I've signed up for Xfinity Mobile because they gave an iPhone 13 Mini for free (as 24 monthly device credits). I'm wondering if I'm trapped with Xfinity internet plan because of this. I know my plan cost would increase in a few months whereas this mobile plan is still 12+ months away being paid off.

Is there a way I could get in on this deal?

Also, I'm currently getting a $30 discount on my monthly plan because I also have Xfinity mobile. Would that also apply if I signup for a new line under this offer?
It used to be that you pay $10 extra in Xfinity Mobile, if you did not not have xfinity internet. Not sure whether that's still around.

can someone comment on linking the mobile and internet together? I'd cancelled mine under my name and reopen under my husband's name, and now we don't get the discount on the mobile. and they don't know how to link the accounts together. TIA

Xfinity sent met the world's oldest modem (XB3). What a piece of garbage that thing is. Sadly, you HAVE you use Xfinity's modem if you want unlimited data via Xfi Complete. So I went to the store, said that the XB3 was unable to support all of my connected devices (XB3's limit is 30). The lady had to call her manager over to override, but they gave me a XB6 as a replacement. WORLDS BETTER. I am using my own router so I just need the modem part of the XB6 and it's been great so far.

So without Xfi complete add on and using as a bridge mode with my own Linksys Velop Nodes, does higher end gateway matter over the basic XB3?

Step 1: Sign up for a new account using the same name, address and phone number but use a different email address.

That's really it aside from activation of the gateway they ship you. The only issue that may arise is if you have their mobile service since thar would still be linked to the old account. In thar instance you'd need to call Xfinity Mobile and have that transferred to the new account.
I forgot to mention using a different email address. That's the only thing I changed when I signed up again.

Can you explain why it is "worlds better" when you are only using the modem part?

At least on the XB3 they gave me, the latency was terrible and I had a ton of drops. There was a class action lawsuit about it. If they offer you an XB6, try to get the Technicolor one.

I actually chatted with them and said I can just cancel and resign up and they did it for me
Are you sure? I believe there's a 90-day rule when canceling.

Yup! Swapped old bulky xb3 with xb8. It's a significant upgrade in terms of coverage and stability. Triband is worth every penny.

Went to Xfinity store and was really respectful but upset accusing Xfinity of bait and switch as I was promised (by just showing XB8 during signup) but was shipped XB3. Store manager was really helpful. He tried swapping with his handheld device. He said it won't allow it, but he can override it. He took new modem inside and then came back after few minutes with "exchange receipt".

Again, XB8 is awesome!! Such a superior coverage and triband is awesome. We don't what we are missing till we experience new technology.
thanks for this account. I would love to upgrade if they'll let me. Had no luck on the online chat.

I keep losing internet connection, everyday it stops working, called Xfinity, it works for a day and then I get a no data connection message on my wifi. I wonder if it's a faulty gateway. It's so frustrating, I need reliable service.
Did you have your own modem before this, which was reliable? If so, probably need a new Xb3

Don't think so, but you should be able to request a Flex box or go to the store and get one. Free Peacock is ending April 3rd for new subscribers and June for everyone, just FYI, so you'll want to get one soon.
