However, I am seeing that the Xfi Complete addon is available for $10/month extra bringing the total costs up to $35/month. For $35/month this plan still seems worth it with unlimited data and higher upload speeds (for select regions [reddit.com])***.
If anyone is going with this plan, I do recommend getting this "Xfi Complete" as it unlocks unlimited data caps (as opposed to 1.2TB without it), and it also unlocks upload speeds which for me tested out to be around 115Mbps, as opposed to something much less like 10Mbps without. For me, this add-on is essentially a required item.
For anyone's existing network setup, I actually didn't have to configure and/or make much changes to my network settings either. With Xfinity's gateway, I just logged in and switched to Bridge mode, which essentially made it a modem-only and then connected my router via ethernet wired, and everything worked as per my previous configuration I had with my previous internet service provider.

Sent me to like two other different departments? Maybe thirty minutes in total. Just told them I previously had an XB3 and it was having latency/drop issues (it was "ok" honestly, if I recall correctly, as this was a couple of years ago). And that I tend to have more devices connected than the XB3 will support (which I believe the actual number is thirty). Craft whatever narrative you need to get what you want I say. As at very BEST(!!!) this advertisement is misleading by Xfinity.
They were willing to mail me an XB7. Or they said I could go into a store and they would annotate the account that I was wanting an XB8...which I wouldn't have made such an issue about, but you need to use their modem for the unlimited data at a reduced rate...and the advertisement shows an XB8 sOooOooo guess what your boy was insisting on getting? Exactly.
Went to the store. The first kid I talked to tried to give me some jazz about the XB8 not applicable for the 200Mbps package. Blah-blah-blah. I was polite but firm. A "manager" (I guess) came over and said, "Sure. No problem. Give it to him" and then immediately tried to up-sell me into an Xfinity Mobile plan. LOL.
Going to the store is more than likely going to be the key to your success. The "system" just does not seem to allow them to complete the transaction with the XB8. Over the phone there was NO(!!!) trouble getting the XB7 to apply mind you. With the XB7 though...from my "research"...you want to make sure you are getting the XB7-T model and NOT(!!!) the XB7-CM or A.
Hope that helps you (or any one else). Good luck.

Though most folks seem to be fine using their own information and just a "New" E-Mail, which can be as easy as adding a "+Comcast" to your E-Mail Address if you're using G-Mail. I didn't go that route, but it does seem like it should work in retrospective. After that I got an E-Mail to my main account E-Mail saying they received my "Cancellation Request", and they shipped the "New" Modem.

So your main account got automatically cancelled?
Score another one for the "little guy" (or gal).
Well done.

I did an "account swap" to renew my free xFi Complete unlimited data, and it bumped my speed up a little while I was at it (800/100). They essentially created a new account, didn't even change the name on it, and a new pick-up modem was arranged. They handed me a used XB6-T. Didn't think anything of it until I got home, as it was wrapped in plastic, but it was clearly used. It replaces my old XB6-A which I've been using for almost 2 years on 600/10 service. The XB6-T they gave me has more fan noise compared to my XB6-A, enough that I can hear it at times watching TV even though it's tucked away behind things (I use my own wifi network, wired to the modem). If it's only the fan noise, I'll deal with it until it's convenient to do a swap, but if there is a benefit to the XB8, I might push harder to get that model for an in-store swap or even push to have them mail me one.
Got my Xfinity Arris modem/router and Flex box (both of which are free with the 200mbps internet for $25 + $10 XFi (unlimited option) + taxes = $35/mo + taxes promo.
Decided I don't want to use their Xfinity hardware and want to return both the modem/router and Flex box, and just use my own confirmed compatible modem and my own router. Online chat told me that if I opt to use my own hardware, I would not be able to get the promotional pricing and that unlimited internet would then be $30/mo. I take that to mean the XFi would no longer be $10/mo but that wasn't clear to me what he meant.
Could someone confirm it is true that if you want this promo at this pricing ($35 + taxes for 200mbps internet and $10 Xfi only, nothing else), that you MUST use their hardware and not your own?
I asked for where this is stated (because it's possible I didn't read it or missed it), but the rep could not provide anything written or point me to anything.
I'd appreciate some confirmation one way or another from someone here who may know more.

"xFi Complete and xFi Advanced Security require an Xfinity xFi Gateway. Unlimited Data available to customers without an xFi Gateway for $30 per month"

The one i have has no antennas and wifi seems poor from another room.

No down time, but the plan Still hasn't switched, even on the new modem (Which was an XB3) so I guess it'll take a minute. They actually sent a technician (He's here right now funny enough) with the XB8 and to verify my connection is good. Which I'm sure it is, and they just haven't switched it over yet. -.- But we'll see.
As to issues with the plan itself, that part's all seamless and WELL worth doing. ;P Though I'd spring for the xfinity Whateverit'scalled package for the unlimited internet since it's just $10 Extra.
Edit: The representative the Tech had to call refused to authorize the modem upgrade, so now I have to go to a local store and show them the ad. -.- The new service is up and running great though.

-self install went totally sideways when I disconnected the old, existing Xfinity modem then connected new XB3 and attempted activation. App would not let me proceed bc my account had been 'deactivated' (simply by unplugging first modem). This turned into a hour plus phone rigamarole with four agents who claimed you activate new modem BEFORE unplugging old one. After several attempts from their end to get everything reactivated (incl. sending me an agreement with completely inflated numbers) it was sorted out and all's well.
-so far not getting the hate for the humble (and yes, used) XB3
