I just read on Amazon these don't work with the app. I've had a lot of luck with this brand. We have them in our carport for about a year now nothing's burnt out it's still works with the app. You can change settings just about daily if you wanted to. I was looking for one that I could connect to the battery. But some of the reviews on Amazon say it needs the 12 volt plug.

If you want the app controlled version, right now it's only $1 more with a coupon over this remote controlled version. It's listed as the "new version" under this listing.
I'm hoping to use this to cheaply illuminate my retro video game console 4 shelf cabinet as I believe you can power these via USB as well. In for one; THX OP.

There's 2 power cords extending from the back of the control unit; one a cigarette jack and what looks like a USB jack. I'm inferring you can attach that USB jack to a standard power brick. I'll attach a highlighted photo to illustrate.
I'm not sure of this though as the USB jack looks pretty funky in the pic on closer inspection. It could be a way to link several of these light sets together perhaps? I haven't received mine yet to confirm either way. If it is a USB power jack, it would make these lights a great way to illuminate cabinets/shelfs on the cheap IMO...
