You wheels will wear through the thin plastic rubber like material. If you use a rolling chair.

I wouldn't really call it carpet. It's more plastic fabric. Mine came in a plastic folded bag. I had to use a steamer to get rid of the creases. This 4x3 "Carpet" comes in a 1foot square bag folded and i mean folded like a piece of paper.

If your goal is to protect your hardwood floor, I suggest replacing the wheels instead. I have something similar to this.

I swapped out to similar wheels. I fully agree. It's like rolling on Rollerblade wheels!

Rubber Wheels is all you need (like the inline skate ones). What's the point in having nice hardwood to roll around on if you're going to cover up with a cheap piece of plastic masquerading as carpet. This is so dumb

As others have said, replacing the standard wheels with Rollerblade-style wheels is really the way to go.

You'll be gliding on air, and your downstairs housemates/neighbors will thank you!

I always buy these and replace the stock wheels. My hardwood floors are happy and shiny.

I highly recommend rollerblade wheels for any office chair. Much easier to move around and way less strain on the floor.

Those are nice but too slick for my liking and too loud rolling around. That's why I like the low-pile carpet, because it isn't as slick and isn't noisy. It just has to have something hard underneath it, or it bunches up.

Double tire means half the pressure over 2x area. That should be better for most cases, unless they are flawed in some way.
