Yes but 5% off BestBuy is not a great netback when you think of all the effort to acquire them.

My Discover rewards are 5% off Bestbuy and 10-2020% off at BestBuy and Ebay through my period Shoprite grocery giftcar promos which run periodically on the $50 and 100 card spend.

I should be able to put a dent in this with my Amazon spending although the category is really limited for Q2.

Depends on your setup, I can redeem points UR points for 1.25x (pay yourself back) or 1.5x (travel) so it is 6.25% compared to 5% from Amazon card.

Well this sucks. I have an Amazon prime card, no limit/benefit there. Local Lowes sucks. Only shops from home Depot. There goes the quarter

Crap categories. You can get 5% CB on Amazon and Lowes gift cards all day at Staples with CIC.

I'm not sure I follow what your point is...?

My post was about EARNING 5% cashback when I buy things- if I know I'm gonna spend money at Amazon and happen to be at Lowes, why not earn 5% cashback with my Chase card by picking up an Amazon giftcard?

What you're talking about is when you REDEEM points at Discover to get a 5% discount... which doesn't help since Discover's Q2 bonus categories suck for me (would have been great during Q1) so I don't have any points to spend at Discover.

The "AMAZON 5% CASH SUCKS BECUASE ANOTHER CARD OFFERS IT" folks are misunderstanding the value of the Freedom card.

It's not that it's 5% cash.

It's that it's 5x UR points.

Which for those who travel is much more valuable than 5% cash.

(also you can get 5.25% cash at amazon (or any other online purchase) year round with a BOA card and plat honors status- so that beats both the quarterly cards and the amazon card if you're a non-travelling cashback only person FYI)

The quarter ends on June 30th, not July 31st.

Agreed. What a totally garbage 5% quarter for Chase. You can get 5% on Amazon and Lowe's in so many ways, like you said at Staples or Office Depot with Chase Ink Cash, or at Target year-round using 5% RedCard, etc. When are they gonna finally do an actually useful 5% category like Gas?

Even this current quarter is lame when they decided to overlap with Discover's 5% on Groceries.

Can I still get 5% discount if I use target red debit card to purchase amazon gift at target store?

Yes, Target Red Card (either debit or credit version) gives 5% off all gift cards sold at Target other than Target gift cards themselves. So, instant 5% off Apple, Amazon, Lowe's etc. gift cards at the register. A $100 Amazon gift card will ring up as $95 when paid with a Target RedCard
