I've had this since the deal in August as well. I bought it to replace my OG Traeger Lil Tex but the thing just won't die so this is still in the box and of course it's cheaper now. I put two pork butts on last night and didn't check again until I woke up this morning and do that often with the Traeger. Why would it not be the same with this one?

I love mine. I modified mine to have to wifi antenna outside and it works great. Also, they just came out with a major firmware update which seems to have made the connection more stable.

I also jumped on this last August. I don't think it gets as heavy of a smoke ring as I'd like, so I did get a cheap smoke tube that I set inside it at the beginning of the smoke. I think that's just a pellet smoker thing. But I absolutely love the smoker. Holds temp awesome. I wouldn't hesitate to jump on this again. And I dont get the appeal of wifi enabled. I agree with the suggestion to use an external wifi thermometer for more flexibility.

I've even used it to cook up some papa murphys pizzas and it does awesome. Holds temp better than the whirlpool oven in my kitchen. This year, we're planning on the Thanksgiving turkey on it. I was too nervous last year to give it a go.

Don't recommend, or see purpose, of wi-fi control of a smoker.
Now a wifi or bluetooth temp probes, yes!

I got a "Govee Bluetooth Meat Thermometer with 4 Probes" last december and have used it a bunch of times... including some 20hr cooks. Done well. Paid $16 from govee direct on a sale.

WiFi would be nice... but for $16 it works!

I have a Camp Chef Woodwind that's just over 5yrs old... NEVER a flameout, NEVER a fire. I do basic cleans occasionally.... been solid.

If you're considering a Pellet smoker, check out the FB group "Camp Chef Smoker Smokers" It's an excellent group, well admin monitored, and VERY helpful.
I joined weeks before buying... learned a lot, helped me make a decision.

My $.02!

Agree with what everyone else has said here. Last spring I purchased this off of Amazon as a "used like new" that had been dumped off a truck, ran over, re boxed, dumped off the truck again, dragged down the road, cardboard added to the box to cover missing box parts and the smoker was undamaged.

As far as the wifi models, don't bother. While a nice feature, there has been issues with it. And, leaving an open flame with an attached fan unattended while cooking something that has the potential to drip grease onto said open flame/sparks is asking for trouble. Buy the wifi/bluetooth thermometers with multiple probes. Get a probe that monitors ambient temp to help monitor that remotely. Way more helpful than the wifi smoker.

The Camp Chef social media pages are great sources of help and information. Well run and moderated. It's a welcoming community to ALL.

****edited to add, buy the jerky racks if you can afford it. It triples the rack space for things like ribs. Height wise the jerky racks space is limited but you don't have to leave all the racks in, use the top and bottom, just the middle or the top, or just a rack over a pan to contain the drippings, multiple uses. They are simple and tool free to install.

Be forewarned that the delivery company may require "help" to unload as stated by Amazon when purchasing. It's a heavy SOB. That being said, this was delivered by Amazon and they brought their own help.

I'm assuming this is the exact same model? It's hard to tell exactly. I have Al's local so I can go pick it up.

Got this around black friday and have done about a dozen or so cooks (ribs, butts, chicken, etc).
Initially had issue with temp being inconsistent. Contacted CC and they sent a new internal probe. Had same issue so sent new controller. All is good. Company is super responsive and doesn't make you jump through hopes.
Wish I would have gotten a pellet years ago!

I've been smoking in this grill since the deal last august. Had some issues with the board on it (twice) but got replacements from customer service without much hassle.
Same. I had Wifi connection issues, bad controller. Talked directly to their network engineer and they shipped me out a new one. Great Customer service and no problems since in 4 years.

Love my Camp Chef PG24MZG. The temp stability is pretty amazing with their gen 2 controller.
Agree with others, I see no need to have WiFi control of the smoker since I think it's not quite safe to have it cooking when I am not home.
WiFi probes can give you info about your cook from away, but still since I'd be home, I can easily walk across the house to look at the display to see what either of the 2 included probes are measuring.
Regardless of that, I think Camp Chef makes a great machine for a fraction of the price of some other pellet grills.

I also got a nice cover for the grill for $13.xx

My wife wants a pellet smoker but it's gotta be Wi-Fi connected, as she wants to be able to control it from work. This seems unrealistic and unnecessary feature to me but idk- anybody have any recommendations either way? Wi-Fi connected seems super expensive.
I have this smoker without that feature. I feel its unnecessary because someone has to refill the hopper, you cant do that from work

I read through the replies and was surprised all all the less than positive opinions on wifi control. I bought a small pellet grill on black friday '21. Used it a lot and enjoyed it. However the size limited me on cooking options -- turkey and large ham barely, or wouldn't fit. The next size up put me in the price range that included some BT/Wifi options. I went with the pit boss 820 competition. I DID have SOME difficulty getting it connected, but once I worked that out I love it.
The app notifies me when the grill or either temp probe reaches the set point, which in turn comes up on my watch which is great not having to check my phone constantly.
As far as operating remotely -- it would just be more of a monitor. I can't think of much reason to change temp unless you're making an adjustment to the cook.

i'll never be without a pellet smoker. between this smoker and the anova precision oven, i have no use for my kitchen oven. smoke the meat then slow cook or rest the meat in the APO and you'll have high quality bbq every time

The update doesn't apply to the DLX series, as there is no wifi.
