It's also worth nothing that even though Woot is owned by Amazon, their return process (while not all that difficult) is a little annoying. Last return I did, I had to email them and wait a couple days for them to send a return label. It wasn't as simple as Amazon. Might not matter, but I'm also not sure what occurs during that lag (i.e. any review of return reasons, item consideration, etc.). Also, I'm not sure if their return process varies by item, but I suspect not.

Looks like these are Costco returns. Costco had this model on sale for $1399 recently, so $999 is a decent price, but I wouldn't be surprised if these hit $1300 or lower at Costco this year. The 16GB model is $999 at Costco right now, which might be good enough for most people.

Some of the reviews at Costco are concerning, so buying this refurb from Woot is going to be a bit of a lottery since this is not a manufacturer refurbished product.

I have the 16gb version of this. I personally love it. The biggest gripe I've seen is thermal issues. I haven't encountered it but I also was proactive and opened it up, repasted the CPU, removed tape that was blocking a portion of the vent and added thermal tape to the ssd, and ram when I was in there adding a second ssd.

If you're comfortable with computers it's very easy to do. The display is gorgeous and the anti-reflective coating is a big improvement over earlier years.

Lots of keyboard and screen flex if that bothers you. Also CPU runs overly hot and throttles down to i3-i5 levels.

I have the previous year gram 17" 32gb Costco edition and love it so much.

a couple notes:
-lg isn't great about access to their driver management software, and it differs from Costco variant to regular, so don't reformat without backing up lg control center and other lg apps from the oem drive
-this model doesn't have upgradeable ram
-if it's the same as last year's model, there are two m.2 slots

no idea why some people think minor body flex impacts one's experience using a laptop but I use it on my lap and on the go all the time with 0 issues (too much flex can cause things like the TouchPad to click, that's not the case for the lg gram)

I think some people are negatively impacted by a rumor that macbooks are *higher quality* because theyre so much heavier and don't bend at all. this is mil spec 810g. I've dropped it on concrete before with 0 damage. get over your superficial concern about body flex. it is irrelevant

To each to his own. Many people do not prefer flex on the keyboard, which is entirely okay. Does it take away from the performance of the PC? Probably not, but when folks spend $1000 on a computer they will use for 3 - 5 years, they should consider all considerations.

Which of these statements is true?

"The display is gorgeous and the anti-reflective coating is a big improvement over earlier years."

"Display is very dark
Cheap"
Both are true. Its not great in direct sunlight (dark/cheap) but under typical office conditions the screen is great (resolution + anti-reflective coating).

I am looking for the best and brightest 17" screen for video playback, I haven't seen any 17 oled.

4k is less important to me than the best picture quality for video content, and I'd actually prefer 16x9 over this 16x10.

Anyone have any ideas?
17 inch is hard to find but the lenovo slim 7 16 3k at 500nits AND 120hz is awesome for video playback https://azure.microsoft.com/en-us...-industry/

I bought the the one from Costco. I love that it's light but I think I want to go down to the 16 inch version. I wish the keyboard was the same as the 14 inch. The keys are a bit spread out. 14inch would be perfect if it had better resolution.

As a dissenting opinion, I think the flex is not at all concerning and just a consequence of the magnesium alloy and thinness required to get the weight down and not an indicator of cheapness.

For a while we have been conditioned to think that heavy means premium and high quality, especially on the smartphone world where reviewers are obsessed with heaviness which led to phones backs being made out of stupid fragile glass. Even the iPhone Pro models are made with a stainless steel frame instead of aluminum for no other reason than to add weight. Personally I can't even use the iPhone Pro models because the weight cramps my hand with extended use.

I'm glad that LG decided to buck the trend and just make the gram thinner and lighter. This is the lightest 17" laptop by a very wide margin and if you're looking for portable big screen productivity for office, school, or coding there's basically nothing that even comes close. This has the same weight as most other manufacturers 13" or 14" laptops.

I literally just bought the 16 GB from Costco but now I think I'm going to return it and get the 32 GB.
100% agree. This laptop is a keeper out of many, many models I've tried from the different brands. I wish I was still within the Costco return window for my 16 GB so I could get this 32 GB deal but c'est la vie. (I'm a developer)

I was looking at this at Costco the other day, and the flex from the keyboard and the plastic surrounding it was crazy! This PC felt very cheaply put together for the price it was at. To folks wanting to buy this computer, I would highly recommend checking this out either at Costco or Best Buy before committing to it.
Been using the Lg gram from Costco for the past 3 years. 17inch screen, full keyboard, and less than 3lbs. Quality isn't bad, and I travel with my laptop a lot. An ultra portable at this price point, Sign me up all day.

Don't expect to be able to play any kinds of games on this. I got a HP with similar specs and it struggles to even play solitaire and mine sweeper.

I did the same thing, bought the 16gb version in August on a tax free holiday weekend & love it. Wish I had the 32gb version but 16 has been fine for basic work stuff.

I'm not sure if people are confusing this with the previous LG Gram generation that had issues but I have not experienced any overheating, noise, or structural issues at all.

Really wish Sony still made laptops but HP is junk, Would only buy Samsung, LG, Asus, or Dell personally.

Battery is great, while they say 15+ hours it's more like 7-10 but that's still great for a screen this big and laptop this light

I play plenty of games on my older gen version, xe graphics are no slouch. You won't be playing recent triple A games but I've played plenty of indy
