The Spin 714 has great reviews and $414 is an great refurb price. This model occasionally goes on sale for $500 at Best Buy. I was going to buy this for my wife but went with an HP Aero Windows laptop instead.

FP deal @ $500, FP again @ $480.

Refurb, yes. But still. Manufacturer refurb, and 2 year warranty for peace of mind.

This is a steal @ $414. Thanks OP! I needed a new Chromebook.

This is a great chromebook. I got it new for $500. Google finally got it on the latest version (or close to) ChromeOS. It had been lagging several major versions behind for a while.
It still has the occasional bug.
Screen is nice, and bright...
Speakers are...meh
Keyboard...good
Trackpad...good (not great).
For a top of the line Chromebook it should have a fingerprint reader.

All in all a nice machine. In the alternative I'd suggest the Lenovo Flex 5i ($300 on Amazon). 13" vs. 14" screen. i3 vs i5 CPU, both have 8GB Ram...both can run just about anything ChromeOS/Android related you would want.

I have been going back and forth between the Spin 714 and the 516 GE (which you linked). I ended up buying the 516 ge yesterday after the price drop at Best Buy.

I think it really comes down to the form factor. If you are looking for a convertible with the touchscreen then the 714 or 713 is the way to go. My wife has an older 713, so I'm familiar with the form factor. The nice thing with the 713 is the 3:2 screen ratio. The 714 has a 16:10 (or 16:9 maybe I forget) screen ratio, so it is a bit different in that regard. Honestly, I don't know if I've really ever seen her use it as a tablet. She does like the small size for traveling.

I don't plan to game on the chromebook, but I wanted something with some speed as I want to run linux and use some linux apps like vs code. I'm replacing a chromebook 14, so the 516 is just is slightly smaller and lighter, but similar form factor. Realistically, most users won't ever notice the higher horsepower.

I ended up going with the 516 as I already have a 12" tablet for reading, that is much lighter and easier to hold. I also don't plan to travel with it much, so I decided to go with the 516 ge and use my tablet for reading. If you want to have just one device, or you plan to travel the 714 might be a better option.

Just my 2 cents....

I went with this model. I think 1235u is way more efficient and much better battery life as well. Its a chromebook and main use case is my daughter will use it for online classes and browsing/netflix etc. Plus with touchscreen my daughter might play some android games if they work.

That said other model with QHD 120 hz screen was tempting for sure.

You can! Do it all the time for work. DL Citrix Workspace on the Play Store - and it opens up perfectly.
