I have this TV. It's definitely worth it at this price. The Sony processing upscales 4k to 8k and it looks great. You're paying for the Sony chip and the high brightness with this set.
Nice! There's an open box model an hour away from me, and it's $2199.99. Not worth the 2 hour road trip. I'm tempted to get it for my living room.
Are you looking at the "Excellent" near New York? I believe it's missing some parts, like the remote, so you can try to negotiate down. (Excellent is supposed to include everything, according to their description.)

This TV has so much excellent reviews everywhere though. I too wanted OLED but I settle for this and I bought it at Best Buy in Southern California as an open box for $2000 plus tax. I was going to get the Total Tech for $200 something which includes installation and delivery but don't know if they will deliver 25 miles away. Hope the wifey approves the already purchased TV. 😆
I'm 46 miles from the nearest Best Buy and with total tech they still deliver. Also once they deliver and install you can cancel total tech for a prorated refund. Delivery and install for only a few bucks.

That's me, haha. I'm going to pass on it for now. I haven't seen the Z9J in person, but my local store has one in stock and one on display. It'll be interesting to see how it compares to other Sony sets.

I'm at Best Buy right now and I just bought it. Delivery has been set up a week out. Excited! I won't be able to sleep now.

Rtings Score 8.1, The Sony Z9F is a great TV for almost any type of use. It can get extremely bright and it handles reflections very well, so it can be placed in almost any bright room. The native contrast ratio is a bit disappointing for a VA panel, but the local dimming feature further deepens any blacks, and the black uniformity is good too, so it still performs well in a dark room. The picture quality is good with outstanding out-of-box color accuracy, but unfortunately, the viewing angles are just okay and the image will lose accuracy when viewed from the side. Gamers will enjoy the amazing response time and incredibly low input lag. Additionally, the Android TV Play Store offers a ton of apps so you can enjoy the content you want.
Not sure why you posted a Rtings score and review from a different tv than the Z9J

I read the Satisfactory condition and I'm happy with it but will check it out before checking out. I bought an open box Samsung refrigerator and it was brand new and still running 5 years later. I'll let how it is but should be great based on the reviews.
I would ask to open the box and examine it right there in the store. Might be a bit awkward with such a big TV but better than trying to pack it all back up again and return it to the store IMO. My last Open Box experience with Best Buy was a $1250 Samsung Soundbar rated "Excellent" with "Best Buy Examined" and "No Damage" stickers on the outside. When I got home and opened it I found a heavily damaged Soundbar that was clearly dropped and returned to the store. They didn't even open the box, let alone "examine" it. They just slapped a sticker on it and called it a day. Was an hour round trip there and back twice.

Not familiar with this HDTV but I'd be careful with native 8K resolution. Picture for 1080p might appear very pixelated, or even 4K might be pixelated.
I'm not saying this is the case, but for me personally I'd do a lot of research first.
On early 720p and 1080p HDTV's, 480p and 480i looked terrible, with only a few exceptions.
