The problem with that argument is that for the equivalent level/price 30 series card RT will hammer your system into the ground unless you play with everything else on potato settings.

High level graphics, ray tracing, affordable cost, pick 2

Good deal unless you find a 6800XT for $520.

AMD cards are a great value, no doubt. The only real question is how much RT performance is worth.

I don't know if I will really enjoy RT much. What games are there that are both good and make good use of it?

All this looks really good actually. This should perform like a RTX 3070/ 3070 Ti, even in RT. https://www.3dmark.com/compare/pr...pr/1532184

RTX 3070's are still going for over $600 new retail. The RTX 4070 (non-Ti) is rumored to have an MSRP at $750 next month.

The RX 6800 also have a TBP around 250w, which is roughly the same as the RX 6750 XT.

I don't think the RX 7800 is scheduled to release until June. So, I think there will be more downward price movement, but not until then.

Pcpartpicker has this card being at $485 except for past couple days. Some other 6800 have come down to $480. By the time Ive seen 6800xt for $520 deals they have been backordered with month shipping estimates. If youre patient those deals may come by again. Outside of intel A770 this is least expensive card with 16GB ram.

I am willing to pay the $1400. But I remember physx and how I paid a premium for something I hardly ever enjoyed.

Yes, I agree. Personally, I'm not planning to buy anymore cards with less than 16Gb of VRAM; less is nVidia's idea of planned obscelecense. At those sale prices, the 6800 is near 50% more performance for less than 33% more cost; the 6800 XT is roughly 66% more performance for under 50% more cost. Unless you need Intel's AV1 encoding, I'd spend a little extra on these, especially for 1440p performance.

I like the 6800 for performance relative to power draw. I use mine with a 650W psu. Undervolted and overclocked it works great and uses 180 watts while gaming.
