I work in the industry--this price is lower than dealer wholesale. Specialized is ridiculously overstocked right now and is in the process of an inventory dump. As soon as they stabilize what they have on hand these sales will disappear.

the biking industry is one of the biggest shams out there. People happily pay the premium prices thinking they have an ultra high end product that was handmade by some American dude with a handlebar mustache, flat brimmed hat, flannel button down and cargo shorts that lives/breathes bicycles and now has a living wage to support a family. In reality, it was my sweaty uncle in Taiwan that sleeps on a bamboo mat and eats sticky rice for dinner.
Even if the same frames are made on the same lines, that doesn't mean the same quality of materials and molds are used or that the same level of quality control goes into them.

But if you are aware of any actual "made in USA" fraud as you as allege, then report it.

That's nowhere near true. If you do a large order from genio you'll pay about 600 to $700 per carbon frame with no shock. That means you have to have your own plans, your own R&D and get all of that over to them. Once you've done that you still have to buy a shock so you figure raw production cost is around $1,000 to 1200 a frame. The grade of carbon you use also will have an impact. That frame gets sold wholesale to a bike shop for $2,000 to 2400 and then retails around 3500 some even pushing 4k or in the case of yeti 4500.

The Santa Cruz and s works frames are manufactured in Taiwan, the bikes are assembled in the USA.

No Any frame that uses the sram universal derailleur hanger will work just fine with the new groupset that is about to be released. This bike and many others already have the udh.

The Epic Evo is a pretty low production item for them to overstock...
I was "looking" for one too, but I settled with a slightly more aggressive, but IMHO trying to occupy the same space, Rocky Mountain Element C.

You can get some -25~30% deals on the MY22 Rocky Mountains from retailers that are making room for MY23. Since MY23 have a slightly higher MSRP, you can calculate the % off for "the same new bike" as higher than 30% laugh out loud
