I work in the industry--this price is lower than dealer wholesale. Specialized is ridiculously overstocked right now and is in the process of an inventory dump. As soon as they stabilize what they have on hand these sales will disappear.
Watch for barely used bikes, people still need to empty their garage of Covid bikes that were used twice!

Same prices at Jenson for the non-Sworks variants.

Thanks for the post! Does anyone know what the alloy one weighs? It's less and I'm not a huge fan of carbon.. Are these the same except alloy/carbon materials? I see it's on pretty good sale as well...

There's a pretty substantial difference in weight. I'm not sure anyone has weighed that exact alloy frame but similar frames weigh high 8s to low nines. I just got this s works frame yesterday and it's 6lb 5oz which is ridiculously light for a 150mm 29er with modern geometry.

Can you let us know what is the dealer wholesale price?
You can do a little math most times and figure it out. If you assume a standard 45% margin which is pretty common you would come up with a dealer cost of 2350 to hit 3400 retail. This current sale at 2300 to your door is a ridiculous deal and it makes sense from the perspective of specialized. They are liquidating this excess inventory to the public at dealer cost more or less

My 2 local dealers are going to have mega sales on complete bikes after Easter which kicks off our mt bike season (although we ride year around) here in N Cal.
Awesome, can you DM for the name of those dealers? I'm also NorCal

Seems like a solid deal if you are in the market for just a frame. As someone who has built several mid level road bikes, I always dreamed of building my own MTB, until I did the math. Add the components and an already built bike looks like a steal. Sorry, not seeing the SlickDeal.

Would have to also buy parts used or wait for sales. Might take longer but you could get a nice build in the end, and the fun/knowledge of building it

I built my road bike. Saved a lot of money but that was partly because the covid was raging at the time and a decent bike at a reasonable price was an impossible dream. But the main benefit I gained from building my bike is that if I need to do anything to the bike, I can do it. Change the BB? Done. Index the rear derailleur? Done. Reroute the cables? Done. Even repack the bearings on a hub? Done. Just about the only thing I have problems with right now is getting the damn Continental GP 5K tubeless tires to fit on my wheels.

From my understanding, SRAM, the preferred component supplier, is releasing a new design for the rear derailleur that will take a different mounting system. If this is true, are we seeing frame sets discounted as the manufacturers make the changeover? I know you can save a lot of money on the outgoing designs.

I would get this from your local bike shop, they should also get the deal when specialize is on sales. Support your local shop!
I tried with my Status 140 and the owner kicked up a huge stink and really made me feel I was putting him out, and also mentioned not only paying for shipping but also assembly (which they don't charge if you order online and he quoted more for shipping). I just ended up ordering it online and tipping the shop guys since they were all super cool and helpful.

Specialized has gone direct to consumer, at least for certain models, according to that shop so unless they happen to have that model on hand chances of them matching the sale really vary.
