The $76 gamble…some are pretty good, some not so much…a solid top for under 80? Can you set up a guitar?

I wish Monoprice would exercise the same restraint on the solid body electric strat/tele clone headstocks as they do here. Less is more. This could have been some sort of asymmetric headstock with Idylwild prominently displayed in a large clown font.

I bought the non pickup version. I believe pretty much every new guitar should get a setup. That said mine was playable as is and definitely had the nut and bridge filed by a (likely hasty) person. They should have done a better job on the b string, but it's still a great instrument. Not flawless, or close, but usable in all the musical senses. Decent padded bag too.

Thinner finish, satin not chunky neck, ok frets (filing and polish work left for the owner).

I don't view a built in under saddle pickup as any advantage, because I think they sound bad, and they add weight and cost. There is arguably a decrease in tone and sustain of the whole guitar too.

Monoprice AFAIK is still doing free return shipping, so not much of a gamble, really.
