Missed out on the last EGO string trimmer with battery FP deal since it went OOS too fast, so I set up a deal alert and just bought this one! My first foray into EGO products! Now that I'll have at least one battery, can't wait to start jumping on some more EGO deals for other products - battery included or not!

I have this trimmer and it's excellent. Tons of power to cut through even the thickest of grass and weeds. The line is easy to load into the head. It's also lighter than some other trimmers I've had because of the carbon fiber. $279 seems a bit expensive, but as far as battery powered trimmers go I think this is the best one on the market.

Wow, I paid $150 for the ST1511S (non-carbon) version at Lowes 2 years ago.
I know inflation is real but this is sorta ridiculous pricing...

The only issue I run into with this trimmer is that my legs end up completely sprayed with grass. I feel like the shield does nothing to help. Anyone else run into that or am I doing something wrong?

Yes but I wear boots and jeans. Bigger issue is it even sprays into the face/eyes/arms. Also chews through trimmer fast (which gets stuck often in the feeder mechanism).

The ST1502SA is still $179 on Amazon. But this one is 16" and comes with the 4Ah battery. It's been $300 since it was released. I personally don't think it's worth the extra $100, but prices haven't gone crazy.

This is the best electric trimmer out there. You get what you pay for. Overkill for small yard though.

The battery and the charger bring up the price. Tool only version is much cheaper. IF you have other EGO tools and a battery already.

I have a similar issue with my old gas trimmer, I found that I need to keep the head tilted to the left, then I get less stuff flying back and hitting me. To match the direction of the string movement.
