Small 208 cc engine. 3,325 rated watts, 27 amps @ 120 volts on Propane. Electric start is a gimmick on a 208 cc engine. A granny can start this easily with half a pull. Generators with 385 cc engines don't need them.

Why does this have a 240 volt outlet? According to its specifications the running amps @ 240 volts on propane is only 13.9 amps. To start either a well pump or an electric water heater the generator needs to be 22 amp 240 volt rated with 27 amps momentary surge starting.

Your post has no value. I have similar Wen unit. My wife can start it but she can not pull it.

I have this generator. I've only had to use it once since I bought it, but it works well. I've only used it with propane to avoid gumming up the carb with ethanol.

I've had this generator (actually the 4850) for 8 years now and I couldn't be happier, the electric start is a bit of a gimmick but it's nice to have, the db rating is 69 and I can't speak to that except to say it's quiet compared to most generators of this type.

I've run this generator primarily on non-ethanal gas and I haven't had any issues but I do run the carb dry after each use.

Depending on your needs keep an eye out for the DuroMax XP4000S or DuroStar DS4000S for a basic but awesome generator that goes on sale for around $220 or the DuroMax XP5500E that's currently sub $350 with 5500/4500 watts (not dual fuel).

Question:

Would something like this be okay for a PA system / mobile DJ setup?

My understanding is that you want to take the system's wattage and 2x it to be safe. The speakers I've got now are Mackie Thump 15a's - they're rated 1300W but operate well below that.

However, I'm mainly concerned about the sensitivity of the components (laptop, controller, mixer, and speakers).

I've seen chatter about "power cleaner" protectors. Or like, how an inverter would be better for sensitive electronics.

Would greatly appreciate some insights (and suggestions!)

For your situation, you want a closed frame inverter generator...

If you have a lot of woofers hitting, you will not want to run the inverter in eco mode BTW for the sudden changes in current from the amps (unless you had a line conditioner with a capacitor on it )

But an inverter generator isn't good enough for your fridges, lights, freezers, internet , tvs and lights ( which you prefer to ) run fine on this generator? Why?

I'm sorry, $749.99msrp is an obscene price for these. 350ish is not bad. I do remember years ago when they came out the price was a bit lower...

electric start is absolutely NOT a gimmick. I've had the XP4850 and now have the XP10000 and electric start is awesome. I'll never buy a genset without. You wanna stand in the rain in a storm and pull repeatedly with one hand while adjusting the choke with the other? not me. turn the key after having sat for a year with no effort at all? yes please.
