In case the helps someone since I struggled a little bit to figure out. WD has its own version of Acronis software for free (5-year license) to use to clone drives as long as one of the drives is a WD drive. Awhile ago, I used Marcrum Reflect, but it's no longer free (at least I couldn't find the free version). I tried a few others and all limited to just data clone, not OS/system cloning with their free/trial version. Good thing I thought to check the WD website. I was able to clone my existing drive to this WD drive . Ended up switching to PNY so I cloned the WD to PNY without issues. It looks like PNY has its own Acronis version also, but I didn't have to use it for the 2nd cloning.

No, the drive needs to be in the 2230 size. This one is a 2280.

Is this the beginning of the end? I remember paying $220 for Samsung NvME two years ago.

How's the performance of this drive?

Feels like it is closer to the Solidigm P41 or Crucial P5 Plus. 🤷 ♂️

Pros/Cons of 2x 1TB vs 1x 2TB?

I figure better reliability of 2x 1TB since if one ship goes down the other still works? Or is the TBW lower on 1TB drives so therefore not worth it?
It all depends on need and use.
For speed: 2x1TB RAID0
For multiple filesystems: 2x1TB (e.g., OS ans Storage drives)
For single, fast, and large storage filesystem: 1x2TB (game drive, media drive)

Will this work with a Steam deck?
Also curious about this, with the 64gb Steam Deck on sale recently, would this be an easy upgrade?

I found this out the hard way when I tried to clone my existing drive to this new one. Wasted a couple hours on EaseUs and Macrium Reflect 8. EaseUs's demo wont let you actually do the cloning and Macrium kept throwing error about a bad sector on the source drive. Finally went to the WD website, found this software and was up and running in less then 30 mins. Wish I had read this post first.

Crucial also has a free version of Acronis as long as you have a crucial drive. Between that and WD most people can access it for free
