In case the helps someone since I struggled a little bit to figure out. WD has its own version of Acronis software for free (5-year license) to use to clone drives as long as one of the drives is a WD drive. Awhile ago, I used Marcrum Reflect, but it's no longer free (at least I couldn't find the free version). I tried a few others and all limited to just data clone, not OS/system cloning with their free/trial version. Good thing I thought to check the WD website. I was able to clone my existing drive to this WD drive . Ended up switching to PNY so I cloned the WD to PNY without issues. It looks like PNY has its own Acronis version also, but I didn't have to use it for the 2nd cloning.

No, the drive needs to be in the 2230 size. This one is a 2280.

2TB Crucial P5 w free heat sink included is $122 at Best Buy right now. That's pretty close, considering the included heat sink.

That BB deal is dead, at least for me. It show $131. Still not bad for 2tb.

Yes. They both seem to have the same endurance. I'm not sure about which company is better with warranty.
wd has 5yr warranty anyways we don't expect them to be malfunction

Is this CrystalbenachMark score to be expected when running this drive on a i7 8700 Gen 3 OptiPlex 7060 MFF PC? More or less?

I appreciate that multiple retailers are listed. I probably won't jump on this deal, but I had a promo linked to my credit card for 15% back at Best Buy, which would have made this deal slicker for me.

crazy to see gen4 at this price already
Gen5 will be out soon. And more importantly, most applications don't really take advantage of the Gen4 bandwidth.

There was a Linus Tech Tips video a couple weeks ago where he benchmarks a Gen5 drive and shows that it's basically exactly the same (outside of synthetic benchmarks) as a Gen4 drive. The real promise (which we might not get) of faster PCIe is the ability to use fewer lanes. The XBox Series S/X already does this, using a Gen4x2 PCIe connection instead of Gen4x4 like most stuff is now.

Just so I know I made the right choice, the SSD WD (850?) model at Walmart for $69 for a 1 TB is a better SSD/deal??
