I wanted to get one of these to replace my aging USG but hear it's actually a downgrade.
These dream routers can't handle gigabit internet.
My USG has no problem even with DPI enabled.
Then they decided to discontinue the USG and "replace" it with something inferior for a higher price.
I'd have to spend $350-400 to replace the USG with one of the other gateways.
I'd rather switch to OPNsense at this point. Disappointed with the anti-prosumer direction UBNT has been heading towards (what actually made them popular in the first place).

They are good, but not great. I have mine out of sight so fan noise/heat is not a problem. They are indeed a bit slow, specially if browsing around the UI Protect section if you have it installed.
Yes, there are reports that it does indeed slow down internet performance more than other routers. But tell me with a straight face you'll be able to tell the difference by just browsing the web.
If you are interest in getting into the UI ecosystem and don't want to send an arm and a leg or manage a separate VM then this is just fine.

I just bought one and will test it out. My ASUS RT-AX68U has been giving me issues. First Wifi constantly dropped. Then recently it randomly reboot. The U6-Lite has been solid for few months since I turn off the Wifi on the ASUS. With UDR, I can move the Ui OS off my VM and run it 24/7. Also my Internet speed is 300/300 FiOS so UDR should be good.

crazy I was just looking for a USG replacement this morning and saw this post. I am disappointed with the options they made as well. Guess i'll stick with whats working for the time being until my isp bumps me up to 2.5 or 5gig and I can burn the unifi bridge
