I didn't buy Cup Noodles for a long time. I bought some a year ago and tried them again. I think they were these Marchuan brand as well. I have to say I'm not a fan. If I were a kid I might like them, and I could have sworn the flat noodles were better back in the day. This is a cheap price at 39¢ each, but it can't be healthy to nuke these, and all of that salt...yikes. If WWIII starts they'll be great.

I eat these occasionally, and I like them. I pour out some of the seasoning to reduce the salt. These come in a whole bunch of flavors, but the ones I like are the Beef, Chicken, and Roast Chicken. I think the Shrimp flavor is gross/yuck.

Why buy these for twice the price compared to their noodle cakes 24 pack?

Thanks! Nice to have when you're in a pinch and don't have time to cook or the money to order out. LMAO

I really don't like the noodle cakes, only the cups. I've tried both. (Also, the cups are more convenient.)

Besides the convenience, is there a difference in taste you mean?

I concur, loved these as a child but now they give me the creeps. Specifically, directly eating from a cheap Styrofoam cup.

I'm always worried I'm consuming micro amounts of Styrofoam and remnants from the peel away cover/lid; especially when eating from the cup with a metal fork. (Accidently rubbing against the cup with the fork especially gets my paranoia going).

Microwaving them is a big nope for me as well because of the Styrofoam issue; I always pour hot water from an electric kettle directly in the cup and wait a few minutes. Still gives me the creeps having hot water in a cheap Styrofoam cup that might be disintegrating due to the heat though...

This can be mitigated of course by using plastic utensils or putting the contents from the cup into a bowl. If I do eat one of these, I always pour the contents out into a bowl and mix with some sriracha and use a bit less water to enhance flavor as I find these pretty bland.

Top ramen makes cup noodles and this instant lunch is a direct competitor. I think top ramen removed msg and reduced the sodium, which sounds good in theory but really is like the only taste these things have going for them. I think the maruchan (this) is still like it always has been.

Yes, I think there's a difference in taste/noodle consistency and I just like the cup version better (in addition to the convenience factor).

They are different. I think they each have their place in the instant noodle world.

Another noodle post, another wave of people complaining about the salt levels. People do not eat noodles to watch their salt levels.

In other news, the sky is blue.

I like to add some dried chopped onion, black pepper or chili oil, and some kind of beef. Be it raw sliced steak or hamburger, or leftover pot roast. The onion really upgrades the flavor, plus the meat gets seasoned with the salty broth. Also good with a raw egg, which gets cooked in the microwave in hot broth.
If you are eating this without adding anything at all it's a pretty sad meal.
