got this when it was $15, it's pretty good but it tastes salty to me. if you're using it in a recipe you may want to omit salt from the recipe

Most vegetarians aren't vegetarian because they dislike meat… they just have moral or religious issues with eating actual meat.

Surely this doesn't have to be explained on every fake meat post?

I don't understand why folks who clearly have no interest in meat substitutes come into a thread for a meat substitute product and start trash talking vegetarians....

I use it all the time mixed about 60/40 with ground beef for tacos, burritos, sloppy joes & stuff like that.

Why do they add so much sodium to a product most people are going to use in a recipe?

$5.50 for 1lb seems high for flavored veggies.
Why not sell us the beef flavor and I'll add it to my $1.50/lb veggies!

My guess would be to preserve it longer. Too bad.. I can't handle the salt but like the idea of the product.

Unless you really need this to last 25 years for emergency storage, just buy TVP (textured vegetable protein) for $2-3 lb and some beef-flavored bouillon cubes for under a buck. It's less than half the price, still lasts for years in a pantry, and you can control the sodium content.
