I'm halfway done with Tactics Ogre. I have never played it before prior. I think Tactics Ogre is the better game, but I do like Triangle Strategy more. It may be because I put over 100 hours in one month to beat Triangle Strategy just prior to the release of Tactics Ogre. So it was hard to jump right in to a new "old" game when I was too used to the characters and skills of Triangle.
The best is Final Fantasy Tactics and Ogre Battle 64 on the n64.

Fortunately most of your battles with Guest characters stop around Ch.2, so it doesn'tremain too much of an annoyance.
But yes, dear god, that AI. It derailed my previous play-through attempt on the PSP version of this game because a guest character that I needed to keep alive in order to recruit her just seemed hell-bent on a kamikaze-run instead.

Arguably if you already have the PSP version you might not necessarily need to plop down the thirty bucks to buy a game that's 90% the same. But if you haven't gotten around to it yet, this is probably the "definitive" version of the game.
(Except for those purists who won't shut up about the Saturn port...)
