This is not a good game. It's ugly and empty. The combat is very simplistic and button-mashy. I got mislead by the people saying this was finally a good Star Ocean again. It is definitely not worth $30. Honestly, it's not even worth the time to play it if it were free.

Agreed, bought it at launch from Amazon and sent it back. Return reason, said "it was poop" and I guess they agreed, got a refund. The franchise just aint it anymore.

the game is good if you prefer ps3/ps4 era gaming. I really don't vibe with any of the new AAA stuff (horizon, GOW, Last of US, Elden Ring, etc) but love games like these, Tales of Berseria/Arise, Persona, etc

Good for JRPG fans and anime lovers

Stranger of Paradise is way better, but they're also entirely different games. Stranger of Paradise is more of a Souls-like game. Though it does have different difficulty levels to choose from.
