Pretty good deal. It has 679 pieces, so as a general rule of $0.10 per piece MSRP, this is below that. The set also has 3 minifigs not found in other sets. Probably not a likely set for Lego to manufacture again, but it probably also has about another year until it's officially retired.
Agreed. LEGO is fully aware of the 10 cent/pc estimate from its buyers so a number of years ago, they started using smaller pieces…& it's continued to get more & more absurd.

Wonder if anyone tracks weights? Seems like $/oz (or g) would be a better judge of value at this point.

yes it's supposed to retire at the end of this year, but that could change. i think this is a good pickup although this set is overpriced already so the discounted price is more of a fair deal.
