Airbnb gift cards work like Amazon gift cards. You redeem the gift card into a pooled balance, so when you book a reservation, you draw upon a single gift card balance.

To put it another way - no, there's no limit.

Sometimes it'll say the property management company or boutique hotel name or similar in the description (usually at the very bottom of the listening, iirc). You can also try messaging the host, often they would prefer to not go through Airbnb also.

Sometimes you can search just the listing name, so if it's something like "south side slope haven" in a place you want to stay - just google that name and see if anything pops up.

Otherwise, check to see if there is a property management company and reach out to them, or message them before booking saying "I'm happy to book through Airbnb, but just wanted to check if you're able to book through another site where you receive a larger portion of payment." Or something like that.

Anyone know if buying these would count towards the Amex min spend for the bonus miles?

Yes, but be careful with this. Buying gift cards to meet a minimum spend is "manufactured spending" and some CC companies are very heavy with enforcement and may cancel your card if they think you are doing that. If you are buying just one gift card it's probably fine, but don't go buying a ton.

Yes, of course. Any type of spending would count towards the minimum spend for the sign up bonus, really. (Well, except for those that are classified as cash advances)

Thanks OP, ordered 3x200 using same credit card and email and received all the card via email. Will use ABNB to send the kids and wife away for spring break and enjoy the break peacefully at home!

I thought the same thing, but I already pre-ordered it. The thing I am wondering is I pre-ordered it at $59.99, but since then they said the MSRP is going to be $69.99 so I am curious if they are going to charge me more. I guess we will see. Sorry for the tangent.

Good luck with AirBnB, I'm sure there's great ones out there and we've stayed in multiple ones over the years. We've just had to consistently document with photos/videos our arrival and departure condition as owners have attempted to keep their deposits or charge us for broken furniture to pad their income.

I took a video upon entering one in Virginia Beach and checking-in at 4pm and documented a broken chair. We contacted the owner at 4:03pm and they tried to say we broke it as the previous tenants were "friends of theirs" that wouldn't do that. We shared the check-in video and they still tried to say we did it. We went down to the front desk of the main condo association and showed them everything and they contacted the owner to tell them to fix it and not be our fault.

Another time we checked out of a condo in Panama City Beach and they tried to say we left the place a mess. We took photos of each room when we left to show the condition. They claimed a single spaghetti noodle that was under the cabinet on the floor showed we didn't clean up after ourselves and was going to keep the $500 deposit. We had to fight them by asking what the cleaning fee was for and after threatening to show our check-out photos to AirBnB and the string of messages they sent us threatening to keep the deposit did they ever return it.

We now use real estate companies that have rentals or find businesses that have multiple rentals in an area to book through directly. We've had more consistently positive results booking directly than by booking through a 3rd party.
Morale of the story, stop going to garbage beach towns.

I have stayed at 14 different airbnbs since the beginning of 2022 and have never experienced anything like this. One of them the bed was broken in a way that you couldn't tell until you laid on it (apparently from the previous guests), and not only were they understanding, but they refunded an entire night for our inconvenience.

That said, I always check to see if the airbnb is available through a local company to avoid the fees.
My experience with Airbnb had been good in the past 5+ years. I always check the reviews to make sure there is no negative comments prior to booking.

I did not know you can bypass their system by contacting the owner directly Smilie

Virginia Beach trip was to see family who were attending the Naval Academy in Annapolis.
