The concern is with pests that hitch a ride on the plants across state lines. California has significant agricultural exports: Grapes — $5.23 billion, Almonds — $5.03 billion, so laws don't allow shipping plants in from out of state.

You know it's funny, people really don't realize how those laws in California have changed products all over the country to be made of safer materials. A lot of manufacturers don't want to put those labels on their products in California, so they reformulate so they don't have to. This actually improves the quality across the country of those products.

Anyway I get the joke. But I really do wonder if people appreciate the reality.

Yes they are toxic to pets, but my animals don't really chew on the leaves. Now I have it outside in my patio because it really need some "bright indirect light" and it was not doing well in the living room...But I got my FLF from Costa Farms on amazon last year in July, it was like 30" tall. Now it is 6ft. I didn't really chip off the leaves on the bottom because I know if I don't like the look they will never grow back. lol.

I'm fairly certain this plant is toxic for dogs & cats and is probably not a great fit for pet owners.

My animals couldn't care less about the fiddle leaf. The leaves aren't fun shaped like a spider plant.

Fiddle leaf figs hate being moved. We had one that if you moved it from one side of the room to another it would take weeks for it to adjust. I can't imagine how badly one would fare going through the Amazon shipping process.

These things grow very easily, and get large very quickly. We have a couple, and they easily grow 2ft taller each year with plentiful leaves. Don't do much to care for them other than water and sun. We love them!

I haven't orderd a costa plant from Amazon, but I wouldn't be surprised if costa farms did the shipping.

they are poisonous to your cats and dogs, so don't get this if you have pets that would chew on it.

Yep it absolutely is toxic to both dogs and cats. A simple google search of the name (Ficus Lyrata) easily confirms that.
