I just hacked the $400 combo kit and returned the 8.0 battery to get the hammer drill, impact driver, and 2 batteries for $253. This is a great deal for anyone who wants to get into m18 and plans to buy the 8.0 HO battery. All their tools in general are on sale for much cheaper without the batteries so you can buy them separately.
The 8.0 battery is selling on my local marketplace for $1-130.
FWIW, this was on sale for $360 or something a few weeks ago, so it's a good deal. Seems like they're trying to get rid of these kits for some reason...

I doubt they're trying to "get rid of" these - they probably just have more stock on these for whatever reason.
FWIW, these are both the latest "Gen 4" versions.

If you select "kit only" then it'll update with the option to add a free gift and then it's hackable.
If you select "kit only", the price is $399 instead of $349

I'm just saying getting rid of these "kits", since they come in these cases. Maybe they're trying to get rid of the non-HO 5.0 batteries who knows, but yeah people may not be buying enough gen 4 or want to upgrade so they're sitting. For most homeowners or DIY folks like myself, the 5.0 are plenty. I hacked the milwaukee 15mm polisher with this and I get roughly 30 min on each 5.0 battery and it's not too big compared to the 6.0 and 8.0 HO batteries..
Can easily charge one battery while using the other so you can keep doing your business.

Doesn't look like this is a "hackable" one either (i.e. return the extra battery for some money back).
