125W + 25W, if I'm not mistaken.
So, full wattage.

Absolutely atrocious If you keep it with the stock install (lots of ghost processes eating the battery) . Less than 2h.
After fresh install and not installing any Alienware crap. It was slightly better

I noticed the discrepancy as well but which one is correct? It also shows the CPU model to be 6800H. My guess is the 5000 series is wrong and the CPU 6800H is correct. RTX 3070 TI was released way later than the Ryzen 5000 series. Doesn't make sense for them to use a 1 generation-old CPU with a new GPU. My bet is BB updated the CPU model but forgot to update the series description.
If you look at the Dell Outlet, this model is offered ONLY with the 6000 series Ryzen 7, so probably is correct. The cheapest one there is $1400 with a 360hz 1080p display.

To be fair, the Alienware has the worst battery compared to its similar peers. Legion and acer goes beyond 5h , this model battery is abysmal

I tested it and retuned it for that reason

I was not expecting a MacBook Pro type battery life but a minimum

This get two hours top

This or the Asus ROG Strix G15 5980HX 6800M for $920? (Price is higher now but I'm debating about returning and getting this, although it would be silly to get another AW M15 R7 when I just sold an M15 R4 3 weeks ago lol).

My question exactly. Other opinions?

I checked earlier and the ASUS M16 deal is gone. Back to $2,100 new and around 1,600 OB excellent. I have the ASUS now and will get the AW M15 Thursday. Going to test both and return one.

Avoid anything Dell makes. Honestly Asus ROG makes the best gaming laptops. I have an Alienware Area 51m and an older Asus Strix Scar. The Area 51m has constant problems whenever there's any driver or bios updates from dell. I've never had this many issues on a PC. Big example is during each bios update the computer would freeze on the bios update screen at 100%… eventually figured out you can force restart and you'll be fine if you wait an hour or two just to make sure it is actually done. Meanwhile my Asus runs like a dream… just getting to the point where newer games can't run that well on it… save your money and get an ASUS ROG… or anything else

Why have people been falling in love with used gaming laptops for more than used prices? I guess hodoor is over.

150W TGP 3070Ti would be a good choice at this price.

Why do folks get gaming laptops over desktops? Just don't want to drag a setup to a lan party like we used to? So many value benefits of a desktop. Thermals, serviceability, upgradeable, etc.

I'm sure there are solid use cases, just curious what they are.

- mobility/flexibility - some people like to work and game on the go.
- footprint
- included screen and keyboard.

it also doe snto help when high end GPU cost 1k+ basically the price of a full gaming laptop

you can always build a better / more powerful gaming PC than a laptop at a given price but. not by that much any longer. CPU's are now a wash, the gap between desktop and laptop gpu is reducing.

In my case it's nice to be able to bring a laptop on a trip to do some gaming away from home, when visiting or traveling with a gaming friend. Or when my friend visits for a weekly game session and we game locally it's obviously easier to bring a laptop to game. Bringing a desktop would be tedious to do weekly, for an occasional LAN party then yeah it's not a big deal to move a desktop once in a while.. Minimalists would also appreciate having one machine that can cover these more mobile use cases, and take up less space while at it, less cables and devices to connect together too.

These run extremely hot to the point of losing performance. I personally would not bother with another Alienware until they work on better fan placement/cooling.
