Anyone ever try to return an item to Dell Refurbished because they didn't like it or it didn't suit their need? I just returned a Latitude laptop to them that was defective, and the process was relatively painless, although it took about a half hour on automated hold to get through to their phone support (email support never responded). The return policy on their site specifically says that non-defective returns are subject to a 15% restocking fee plus shipping charges, and I'm wondering how strict they are about that.

@iconian please fix title: 5530, not 5539

got one for a friend, 419 + tax with 32GB, FS. (EDIT: Grade A)

these are the non-touch FHD. the touch models are 4K and significantly shorten battery life.

with the serial no they sent with order confirmation i looked up the exact hardware for my unit on DELL's site. i got the 97 Wh battery Smilie. but surprisingly, although i ordered the 32GB RAM, 256GB SSD variant (expecting to swap the SSD later), the part list for my unit shows a 512GB SSD... what the hell?

Not a bad price. But not a great deal, because for another $150, you can get a new laptop with a one year warranty included that you don't have to pay an extra $40 for. And the drive for the new laptop would be nvme ssd. Dell really needs cut the refurbished prices by about $50 to $75 or start including a one year refurbished warranty to be competitive.

I highly doubt you can get a new Precision for $150 more. Inspiron, sure, but I wouldn't expect an Inspiron to last much more than a year without issues.

Missing some key specifications here. Most notably, these are all 6-core, 12-thread i7-8850H CPUs. Not only will they support automatic upgrades to Windows 11, they're H-series high-performance CPUs. The performance is comparable to the newer i7-10710U (for example), though far less efficient (the newer CPU being a low-power model that sips 15W while the 8th generation H-series in this deal achieves its results drawing closer to 45W).

Additionally, all models have 1080p screens.

If there's a disappointment, it's the lack of touchscreen availability (which is typical for Precision models of this generation).

Otherwise this is solid build which could provide great long-term functionality for a wide swath of users. Ultimately, I think that something like the lower horsepower in a common Dell Micro Center deal would be a better bang-for-buck productivity PC, but as an enterprise laptop (instead of a retail device) this Dell Precision does have plenty going for it.

Good luck!
Jon
