I never used a tool like this one. Is it useful? Does it come in handy? Is it one of those you rarely use but when you do you're glad you have it.

This will become your most useful tool, other than a drill. It can cut most material and do it in small spaces. But I got the brushed model with 2 batteries and a charger for $50 at my local HD just 2 weeks ago.

I love ridged but these are the tools that gave me the most issues.

After using it quite a bit, the power button gets a lot harder to move. To the point where you will have to use a screwdriver. Then the level adjustment dial also breaks off pretty easily. You can still adjust it with your fingers but the big dial breaks off. I usually baby my items and that was the only item that I went through in a matter of a week.

Just my experience though. I love the idea. Awesome tool for doing lots of things

Isn't this the perfect reason for ridgid? Their so called lifetime warranty and get it fixed or replaced

I had the same issue with the power switch. If you open the tool up and put a bit of silicon grease on the switch it will work again. Appears to be a design defect.

I own around 20 or so Ridgid 18V tools and another 20 or so batteries and this is THE ONLY tool I'm disappointing in. First of all read reviews at Home Depot, the on-off switch gets harder and harder to engage the longer you own the tool to the point it literally hurts your thumbs or fingers to turn it on. I was at the point of having to use both thumbs in order to to turn it on. I ended up taking it apart and blowing out all the dust and spraying electrical contact cleaner inside. Put it all back together and the toggle switch was like new and was easy to turn on.... for about a month.. then it started all over again. I ended up having to take it apart and fiddle with it again and this time bend the little metal sliding part connected to the toggle in order to get it to slide easier. That worked for a while, but then it would get looser and looser and the toggle would slide back on it's own form the vibration of the tool while using it, meaning I have to hold the toggle on while I use it. I ended up getting a new one.... SAME PROBLEM.. too hard to toggle on. On top of that after a couple of months or so the speed dial became loose and you have to push it up in order for the tool to work when you turn it on. This tool is a dud. Ridgid desperately needs to redesign it. Furthermore, the speed of the first tool multi tool goes quite a bit faster than the second one I bought.

Like others said, I love using this tool but it's the only one that's given me issues. Same experience with the on/off button and also mine tends to get hot after running it for a while to the point that it stops working and needs to cool off for 5-10 mins before I can use it again.

You can just get a better one that has the benefit of not having those problems.
