That's what I heard/read before I got it. I disagree, it has a good story and gameplay. Only thing that I didn't like was how repetitive the missions were. I've heard that 1 and 2 are better so I'm looking forward to playing this one.

Are Mafia games are locked to 30 fps in new Xbox series consoles?

You can't disagree with his statement if you only played the 3rd… read it again

30fps locked with no 60fps option, feels extremely sluggish especially since several video games have received a 60fps option.

Not a bad game, but it's dated and it's not a great remaster. I think the original game's remake is the best if you want a true next-gen experience of the Mafia world.

Story is subjective so I won't argue. You yourself said that the missions were repetitive and that's the game play flaw that most of the developers nowadays do. They bloat the game by creating boring sequences of missions with no value added to the player. Again if you enjoyed the game play then cool.

By the way 1 & 2 are awesome, they don't follow the open world format so the game play tightly follows the story line.

I've played all three Mafia games, though out of order (2, 3, 1).
  • I started with 2 and absolutely loved playing the original version on whatever Xbox version it was at the time. The story was compelling/interesting, the cover system was intuitive, and the driving was more fun than I thought it would be.
  • As a gamer who prefers open world games, I was excited for 3, and it's probably my favorite of the series. I was more engaged by its story than the other two, and I got to choose how fast (and in what order) the main narrative progressed. I was able to do (or ignore) side missions and collectibles. The driving physics were an absolute blast, and the combat mechanics felt more fluid to me than 2. The missions did end up getting quite repetitive, but if you take advantage of all the tactics/combat features, it's pretty easy to blow through the cookie-cutter ones. I also kept it fun by doing different tactics: only stealth, only sniper, etc. I liked it enough that I bought/played all the DLC.
  • I got the definitive edition of 1 and played it a few weeks ago. You can definitely tell it was a first entry: very scripted/on rails, pretty straightforward gangster story. It looks amazing now, which is cool, but coming from 3, the combat/weapons still felt a little dated.
FWIW, I think the modern versions of any of these games are a deal at <$10.

It was nice to get good solid info rather than the bickering that is becoming too common. Thx

Yes and no. When I hear "worst" I think it has no merit at all. But it does because I enjoyed it. So far, 2 is ok for me.
