I mean, if you haven't already gone down this rabbit hole, then $8 with all the DLC isn't a bad option.
I still haven't finished New Vegas, with 40+ hours in. I may never finish it. FO4, Ha. Maybe in my retirement years playing on my headband gameboy 9000, in the old folks home....
There are lots of missions just to walk a long distance to help these settlers, help defending a base, or collect certain materials. There are lots of weapons and mods, but grinding for materials take a long time. It's exactly Skyrim in a modern world.
At some point I find myself betraying the brotherhood, blasting my way out of their blimp, and flying out of there on the ship shooting down at their Basecamp with my sidekick making snarky comments.
Truly one of my funnest moments in gaming.
Needless to say, I'd recommend the game at this price.

The worst aspect of the game for me was the limitations imposed by the weight limit on your inventory. Unless you have max strength and always wear power armor, you're always making decisions on what to take and what to leave, which particularly limits the "junk" you bring back for constructing things at settlements.
Once I installed a weight limit mod that allowed me 2000lb or whatever it was, that completely freed me from those decisions. Sure, it's unrealistic, and I could tote around ALL the weapons. However, it also means that I could grab every single thing I came across, which quickly allowed me to stock up the settlements and build whatever I felt like (including weapon and armor mods). I actually like the settlement building (especially with mods adding a huge variety of stuff), but having to leave 90% of the materials, or make dozens of trips, was just annoying.
Another fix is the weight capacity bug with Ada the robot, but it was VERY tedious to use. (Briefly, if you have Ada pick up something from the ground, she has an unlimited weight capacity. You have to drop EVERYTHING and then have her pick it up, piece by piece.)
Waiting for Prime Gaming or Epic to give this away....Have so much backlog it's impossible to find time for this. On top of that XGP keeps adding day one releases...
Prime gaming already gave away most of the series except for Fallout 4...
From the comments this game sounds like a time sink and waste of time. Doesn't sound like the designers did a particularly good job.
It's one of the best games I ever played. This and Fallout 3. I've been playing games since pong and Coleco vision and honestly, it just depends on what you expect of the game. I had so much fun wandering around and stumbling upon new things. Then I found out how to work around the building size limit. OMG, it was like a kid getting legos for the first time. I still did the quests. (eventually LOL) I recently retired and I think I'm going to go back and play it again.
As far as video any video games being a time sink, Is it really anything else? You relax and wind down from a day at work or school. You get some entertainment. Other than that you aren't curing cancer or feeding your family when you play video games. Just have fun.

This a person who has no grasp of fast travel and therefore no business, reviewing the game.

If you liked Skyrim and new Vegas you will like this game if you use mods from Nexus.
I started out on the NES and this game has kept me hooked. I even walked away from it but I keep coming back.
