Great deal. Yes li-ion vs lifepo. But 800 cycles o 80% is probably more than 15 years for the average users (1 cycle per weekend). Li-ion let's this do 1800w so likely you can power anything that is wall outlet 120v 15 amp for a bit.

Be real with yourselves. I bought a similar one and have used maybe 5 times in 2 years. I only have for emergency or camping power

I think this is a good deal and may jump - I did just want to mention that there is no way this will last 15 years in your example of usage - the cycling claim is not taking into account the calendar aging of the cell so physically aging the cell for 10-15 years would be taxing alone even without the usage/cycling.

As an engineer for a battery company, what is your best guestimate? Say using every other weekend in the summer? Mainly powering an electric fridge/cooler gizmo for camping and outings.

Why is it called a generator? Does it generate power or just store it? This is just a giant battery right?

That's always a point of contention. I'd suggest that it's close enough to say this generates ac power from DC power (from solar), much the way a traditional generator creates ac power from gas.

But yes, it's counter intuitive to say generator if it was charged via ac input.

I'm not the engineer person, but I have experience with power banks. Unless you get a defective unit you should be able to get 5 good years of usage before noticing a significant drop in capacity. You may even get to 10 years, but the capacity will be drastically reduced, probably down to 20-30%.

It may still power on after 15 years and even have the storage capacity of a cell phone, but that won't be a good use of the limited space in our flying cars Wink

EDIT: Just wanted to add that this estimate assumes that you take basic care of your battery. Don't let it discharge below 10-15%, don't charge it above 90% and don't store it above 60%.

A better name would be "power station". It stores energy from the wall or solar panels (or gas generator etc) and lets you power different devices with it. Together with solar panels it could be a considered a generator
