I have the low top version of these and they are comfortable to wear off the bike. I am not sure what your intended usage would be but note that bike shoes do tend to have stiffer soles.

Thanks for posting this. As I'm sure others can attest to, the normal 510's can get chilly in the cold and can be a pain to climb a hill with. These solve both those issues. They'll be my early spring shoes. Thanks!

I like my Freeriders but they suck when pushing the bike. Looking at the soles of these, I'm not seeing how they're going to be much better when pushing up a hill? The majority of the sole looks the same as my Freeriders.

No, these are terrible for walking. Only meant for use cycling and brief time off bike. I have these and would not recommend you use them off bike.

So I'm starting to dabble in off-road riding tho 95% of my time is on-road. So, naturally I'm used to being clipped-in. What's the general consensus on clipped vs regular shoes on a MTB? I'd be doing mostly XC / woods exploration on mostly flat-ish terrain as is native to where I live.

There isn't one, though if you are going to go with flat pedals mtn bike specific flat pedal shoes are much better than regular shoes.
