You are wrong on the battery life for this model, it is actually quite good (due to not having a discrete gpu, iris xe is indeed weak). Its a macbook air competitor not meant for gaming.

This is the base mode and there is another model with Arc A370M Graphics which was on sale couple of days back at $999 (Now around $1299). However, you can consider this more of a big screen Ultra portable and the battery life is pretty good for an Intel Laptop due to bigger battery, no dedicated GPU and Asus restricting the power to the CPU in Battery mode.

Yeah I feel like the 12700H with integrated graphics is stuffed into too many thin/mainstream laptops that can't properly use it. For bigger/thicker gaming laptops it's great, but for anything else the battery life is relatively poor and there can be thermal throttling. Plus the integrated graphics (while better than past generations) still holds the CPU back a lot. I feel like they are trying to clear out stock but there are still too many 12700H laptops out there. This laptop with the newest AMD processor or the newest Intel U processor would be so much better. Atleast it has 16gb of ram, there was that laptop that showed up multiple times with 8gb of ram soldered.

Do you have one by a chance? What's the real world battery life?

That's sort of exactly my thoughts, given the form factor I doubt you can squeeze much out of 12700H over a long time, it will just throttle down, hell, even 1260P in the laptop I have does. Adding the fact that it's limited to 16GB, makes even less sense for productivity.

Different commenter. I don't have one but PC Mag tested battery life with a video playback. It was only 8.5 hours: https://www.pcmag.com/reviews/asu...led-q529za

Real world performance will likely be worse than that but it could be better. It depends on the use. My experience with other laptops is that they will not last as long in real world situations. For example, I had a Dell that got about 8-9 hours in video playback tests but in real world use lasted only about 2-4 hours on battery.

A different review (no methodology posted so suspect accuracy) says about 9 hours playing a video file with real life but light use lasting longer (again, no test data provided so I think the reviewer is just parroting the manufacturer). https://www.techradar.com/reviews...-flip-oled

We have this same OLED screen in a Vivobook K6500 but it's rated at 600 nits, I wonder if the overlay film for the Touch drops it to 400nits?

So for someone who does no games, would this model be better than the one with Arc370M? It's a $200 savings comparing to the beefier model that was on sale a few days ago.

Right now I have a 4 years old HP with i5 and 1050Ti but I don't think I put any use on that GPU aside maybe it's taking some toll off the processor and not tapping into RAM. The only big difference is that I put 32GB in my laptop but I think I can be fine with 16GB as I no longer need to run virtual machines locally.
