Isn't this a better buy at $279.00 with the top cover? Or is this basically for those who don't want/need the cover and prefer the front shelf attachment?

I already own the Walmart one. Which leads to my next question - does anyone have a hinged cover for the 36" griddle they would recommend? Most of the stuff I come across looks like thin sheet metal with a heat resistant powder coating. I was hoping to find something with a thicker material. Suggestions would be much appreciated!

Love my Blackstone and can't recommend them enough.

The packing is pretty robust. My outer box looked like crap when I picked it up but after seeing all the packing material it seemed like the unit was still protected, which it was. The reinforced areas did their job, but if you pick up and see a badly damaged outer box, just try to see if there is any exposed metal that actually looks damaged.

I got one and got it setup earlier this week. Unfortunately mine came with a leaky gas regulator, but customer service was easy to work with and they are sending me a new one free of charge. Only down side is it will take about a week to get here. For the price I am not complaining. The griddle size, weight, and quality seem to be worth it for this price.

last time Walmart put this on sale, I was able to get online Lowes.com customer support to price match their 499.99 culinary model to this price even though they were not the same. Lots of SDers did. Took a second rep to do it but worked just fine.

Because Blackstone worked on making a more efficient model. "The complex construction of the plate retains heat longer and distributes it more evenly, requiring less BTU's to maintain high temperatures, without compromising any cooking power.
