The S20 Ultra suffered from focusing & camera lag issues. these were significantly improved, but not 100% fixed, via software updates. They just got One UI 5.1 atop Android 13 which will be their last significant software update. They will get security updates for at least one more year. I have used a couple of older Samsung devices with OneUI 5.0 and 5.1 and they are quite smooth so these devices should be going out in good shape software-wise.

Also worth noting is that the S20 Ultra has a massive 5k mAh battery which is the same as the S22 & S23 Ultra. The S20 Ultra has a 6.9" screen which is the largest ever on a Samsung device alongside the Note 20 Ultra. The S20+ has a 6.7" screen which is a smidge larger than the current S23/S22+.

These are the final Galaxy S models to support microSD expansion and the first to support 45W Wired charging. Also the final Galaxy S models to support Samsung Pay MST (the Note 20 Ultra being the final one to support those features). Finally, although the hardware supports it, there were some behind the scenes shenanigans and these devices never received 5G midband support on any carrier. Apple's iPhone 12 has the same 5G qualcomm chipset and got updated to support those frequencies in addition to mmwave and low-band. So you won't see "UWB" very much on these devices, if ever. I had a Note 20 for 18 months so I know. When I upgraded from a Note 20 Ultra to the S22 Ultra I got mid-band support and a significantly improved 5G experience.

I would have no issues buying one of these for a 1 year "rental" or as a wi-fi based device to fiddle with or as a kids' phone. Compared to, say, a comparably priced Moto G budget handset, these will run circles around it in camera & SoC performance and especially screen quality. You'll also get wireless charging and significantly faster wired charging IF you use a proper PPS PD charger.

How many more years left will Samsung support updates for this model?
Not much longer unfortunately. Pretty sure they are getting or already got their last Android update already. Security updates should last a few more years.

I was only trying to help the community with this deal without getting anything in return. But if a typo (which i have now fixed) is so important, that's up to individuals to decide.

Typo's are fun.

Also issues with wifi calling being susceptible to hackers. Same with Pixel 6's and 7's that were just big front page deals.
According to the other article that goes into more detail posted earlier, this affects Exynos chipsets. The US versions of the Samsung phones use Snapdragon chipsets.

I am tempted by the S20 Ultra, but I haven't bought from Woot in ages. What's the likelihood of getting a decent (cosmetically and operationally) phone?
It's like a lottery. I have gotten better and also worse than as described items in the past.

And what would be the process of returning it if not satisfied?

These are great for trade-in when Samsung has enhanced trade-in promo.

Like I said, don't get mad, get glad! Yes, there's lots of grumps out here, but this is making your post popular so typo worked in your favor. Don't ever forget ymmv when relevant otherwise the mobs come out and attack you for making an effort and wasting 1 second of their not-so-valuable time.

Whatever that means..
That the battery in the phone hasn't degraded more than 15%. If it's supposed to be 1000mAh, then it still performs with at least 850mAh capacity.

Last I checked the pixel 7 (non pro) was sold out. That's definitely a better deal for the $ than this woot offering. My pixel 3 still is purring right along.

Most of them probably have the limit charging to 85% to preserve battery life feature enabled and testers didn't realize
