I don't think this is a great deal when the iphone 11 can be had for as low as $60 from Metro PCS, that's with 1 month service included and you wait 6 months instead of 12 for unlocking.

I was able to add the phone and $15 plan by going to phone buy page selecting color and clicking check availability. Then before choosing a plan open new tab and BYOP (https://my.boostmobile.com/shop/buy/plans/) with $15 plan and click Choose Plan. Total (before tax) in cart $214.99.

Does anyone know if unlocking after 12 months requires contacting Boost Mobile, or will it be done automatically when the system sees 12 months of service?

Really dislike contacting customer service for any company, so the less people to talk to or deal with, the better.

I read a few comments on reddit regarding an iPhone unlock with boost and read that some had issues even after the 12 month period. Sadly, boost would not want to unlock the devices. I haven't read of an Auto Unlock with iPhone yet. Maybe someone else has a different experience.

with metro, it usually auto unlocks after 180 days.
same with cricket and iPhones, it auto unlocks around the 176th day WITH active service.

As long as the phone has been using Boost network for 12 months continuously, you are qualified for unlocking. You can also use Ting mobile SIM (on sale for $1 with $30 credit, pick $10/month plan) and be qualified for Boost unlocking.
This caught my eye. I have a bunch of Ting sims from way back with $30 credits on them. Do I have to do anything to use these on this phone? Does the credit go with the Ting account or Boost account?

Just get a code from a referral then activate the SIM via Ting mobile site, pick the cheapest plan if you only need talk and text features. You will have a Ting account, but use this SIM on your locked Boost phone. It will count towards your 12 month usage on Dish network owned by Boost.

My son has an Android. I bought this deal and just received the iPhone 12. Based on a few posts, I thought it would be as easy as moving the SIM card from the Android phone to the new iPhone 12 and it would be good to go. I attempted this and it did not work. The iPhone states the the phone number is that of the old Android (which is correct). But all phone calls and texts fail.... Any idea how I can make this switch?

I am curious about what you stated activation on Ting qualifying Boost unlocking, is this a hypothetical theory, or real world case in reality?

I bought a Celero 5G and used Ting for 6 months then Boost for 6 months, got it unlocked successfully after that.

Boost mobile comes with 3 different types of SIM cards. You have to enter the phone IMEI to determine which one to use:

Both the iPhone 12 and our Samsung A12 both use a Nano-SIM card. I put the current Samsung A12 Sim Card into the new iPhone 12. That did not work. I guess you can not simply move the old card to the new phone??? Do I need to deactivate / close the account of the new iPhone 12 before attempting to make the switch?

Anyone attempt something like this?

I'm trying to scour through all of these pages to find where we go to cancel the autopay monthly plan.

I'm looking at the other iphone 12 thread and some people mentioned you cannot cancel the autopay. But some people here mentioned you can.

Can I install the Boost app on any phone and do it from there? Thanks in advance.

One possibility is your previous IMEI is still registered with that SIM, you need to call CS to change it to the new one associated with your iPhone.
Another possibility: some received orange SIM, some - black one. Your iPhone uses a new SIM card called "Expanded Network" so ... contact CS to send you a replacement.

Wow, I didn't pay attention how much it was worth. I have 1920 points to this day. Phone was activated on 3/28. Enough to pay this first month.

The previous IMEI is certainly still registered with that SIM (the one I'm trying to put in the new iPhone)...

What doesn't make sense is that people are saying you can simply swap SIM cards and it would work. Wouldn't that be a major security flaw. Wouldn't that be the same as if I found an iPhone in the street and I took out the SIM card and put in my old SIM card expecting it to work.....

To me, it seems like I need to cancel service on the new iPhone and then do a swap from my existing account.
