If you plan to do light fishing of any sort, this one is definitely better. 2 rod holders, foot mount to stabilize while rowing, seemingly thicker material, optional higher seat with the included booster. I sold my k2 and kept this because of the accessories.

Probably fine for lakes, can't imagine using an inflatable on a river with rocks/branches, etc

Is this any easier to maneuver than the Explorer K2?

I bought the K2 for around $80 on SlickDeals a while ago and while it's functional and a good value for the money it's not fun to paddle and tracks absolutely miserably in the water.

This site seems to have a pretty good review that compares the models near the end, appears the difference is mostly heavier duty material, higher quality accessories, and a somewhat better shape.

The included video also makes the tracking appear better than the K2, and in line with the similar model from Sea Eagle.


I would guess that this won't perform as well as something like an Advanced Elements kayak but those are 3X the price of the Intex even on sale.

Does anyone have any experience with an ASURION 2 Year Sporting Good Protection Plan claim against one of these Kayak's? Considering it as a hedge against the 90 day warranty.

We bought two of these from a black Friday deal. They packed up small enough to take on our RV trip. We had them in an open channel in the florida keys, down narrow mangrove tunnels, and through several fresh water springs. We used them half a dozen times with no issue. Make sure you use the pressure gauge to get the inflation amount right. I think that makes a big difference in the durability. Our kids ran them into tree branches and up onto rocks and they held up fine. The removable skeg makes a huge difference in the tracking

No, $499 is far, far from what it is worth or what the regular price is. It's a $100 kayak that is extremely soft, and you don't have back support at all.
Don't buy one like this. Garbage quality.
