KitchenAid Pro Line 7 qt. Mixer on CLOSEOUT! $499.99, $450 with 10% coupon!!

The venerable KitchenAid KSM7586 Pro Line 7 quart mixer with 1.3 hp DC high torque motor is on CLOSEOUT on the kitchenaid.com website for $499.99 with FREE SHIPPING until midnight March 29th in all three colors (Red, White and Silver). There is also a 10% coupon available from KitchenAid when you sign up for a Kitchenaid.com account (and your return period is extended to 60 days from the standard 30 days as well!) This brings your total price to about $450 before tax for what has been KitchenAid's most powerful residential service mixer.

According to what I have been told by a KitchenAid representative, the Pro Line 7 quart mixer is being discontinued and will be replaced by the new KSM70 mixer, which is also a 7 quart mixer but comes with a new designed AC (NOT DC) motor. The new AC motor in the KSM70 is a much better design than any of the earlier AC powered KitchenAid mixers to date, but it simply cannot compete with the proven DC motors in the Pro Line 7 quart and the Commercial 8 quart mixer when it comes to raw torque. This can be important if you are planning to use your mixer often to make large amounts of bread doughs, for example. Bottom line is that in my opinion, while the KSM70 is a step up from the older AC powered mixers such as the Professional 600, it is a step down from the Pro Line and the Commercial KSM8990 when it comes to the torque delivered by the motor.

The ProLine 7 quart mixer includes:
(1) 7 Quart Stainless Steel Bowl
(1) Coated Flat Beater
(1) Coated Metal PowerKnead™ Dough Hook
(1) Stainless Steel 11-Wire Whip
(1) Pouring shield
5 year Kitchenaid warranty

While the KSM70SN and the Commercial KitchenAid mixers include ALL stainless steel accessories, the Pro Line includes only a stainless steel wire whip. However, don't let this distract your focus from this deal! If you prefer the stainless accessories, you can buy the stainless steel dough hook and the stainless steel flat beater separately with the money you save and STILL be ahead of the game with cash to spare, AND have a much more powerful mixer to boot!

From what I was told by KitchenAid, once the existing stock of Pro Line mixers is gone, they're gone. The only large capacity KitchenAid mixer with the high torque DC motor going forward will then be the Commercial KSM8990 8 quart mixer, which sells for $800. If you have been contemplating upgrading to a more powerful, large capacity KitchenAid mixer, and value a high power torque motor, this might be good time to snag one of KitchenAid's most powerful mixers for $450 (plus tax) with FREE SHIPPING with a 60 day return period (and free return shipping).

The wire whisk in this mixer is terrible. The wires are so close together that anything you whisk just gets caught in it. Other than that it's an awesome mixer and it's so quiet compared to other other smaller mixers.

What are you whisking typically? I've had that issue with chunky things, but for things like meringues or creams I haven't had problems.

I usually just use the paddle mixer if there's chunks.

Thin stuff is okay, but even something thin getting whipped can get caught on there. Any thicker batter gets all stuck in it and is a pain to get out.

For some reason the link to this deal is not working in the posting, some issue with the www.dpbolvw.net server cannot be found. If you can't get to it from the posting, just go to kitchenaid.com and search for Pro Line 7. Creating an account should get you a 10% off coupon.
After you create an account, you can also try putting the item in your cart and leaving it there for several hours (or sometimes a day or two) and they often send you the coupon to try and get you to pull the trigger on your purchase.

It is unfortunate that KitchenAid is discontinuing this model. Physically, this model is 100% identical to the Commercial 8 qt model. The only differences are the 8qt model comes with NSF-rated stainless steel attachments, an NSF-rated bowl, a speed selector guard, and a warranty that covers commercial use. It has the very desirable DC motor and is an absolute work horse. The models which are replacing it (KSM55/KSM60/KSM70) are a notable step up from the AC motor Professional 5.5qt/6 qt/600 models, which are ALSO being discontinued, but a notable step down from the DC Motor ProLine 7qt.

If you are on the fence between getting a Professional 600 and waiting for the KSM60 to release, then I would wait. If you want to get a DC motor KitchenAid model and don't want to splurge for the Commercial 8qt, this will likely be your last chance outside of the used market.

EDIT: No clue why OPs post is being downvoted. $450 is a VERY solid price for a ProLine 7qt. The only reason I can think of is people who assume that because it looks similar to the much cheaper Professional 600 (also on close out) that it is the same on the inside. The reality is, this mode is TOTALLY different on the inside and beats the pants off the Professional 600 in pretty much every single way.

Have you checked to make sure the mixer to bowl clearance is correct?

Its definitely not correct. KitchenAid has been fighting me on that for awhile. But that is a different issue and I've mostly given up on that battle

had this problem on one we bought. Adjustment screw didn't work correctly to fine tune it

I have the same problem. The screw doesn't really do anything.

Wouldn't this be too big for home use? like if you want to beat 2-3 eggs it would not be possible.

Some smaller bowls that work with this mixer are available for purchase. It's an additional expense of course...

Business Costco (if you have membership and live near one), has the KSM8990 (commercial) for $599.

I don't down vote, but I dont think its a great deal. they used to sell the refurbished KSM7581 (i.e. physically the same as this one, just with a shorter warranty) for $280 before 15% coupon. close to half the price of the "closeout" price.
