soul...longevity...craftsmanship...heritage. The difference between mechanical and quartz is hard to quantify, but if you think a mechanical movement's only purpose is just to make a neat trick with the seconds hand, you're in the vast minority of watch enthusiasts.

It might as well be quartz w/ no seconds sweep. I don't understand who wants an automatic watch without seeing it sweep.

I think omitting the second hand was a design decision to allow the watch to be thinner. Thinness being the claim to fame for this Hamilton model.

Nice watch and solid vendor. TU all the way!

ETA Calibre 2892-2 is great and serves as basis for many watches of much higher end. Beads bracelet is looking very nice too and matches especially well with dark blue and tobacco dials.

More Hamilton deals please! One of the few affordable brands that make autos that don't dwarf my small wrist.

you missed my point. I know its an automatic......it does not have a seconds hand though. If you can't see it sweep, why does it matter if its an automatic?

I don't own a Spring Drive, nor have any plans to own a spring drive. But tell me one ROLEX or any other major brand that doesn't have a sweeping seconds hand..............Show me a spring drive that doesn't have a seconds hand also. Do you have a good excuse to not include it? I own several mechanical automatic watches and they all have a sweeping seconds hand and personally wouldn't buy one that didn't have one. Buy this watch if you think it looks great and can live with a watch that you have to flip over to know its mechanical...

Huh? An AP 15202 doesn't have a second hand and it sells for 5X over retail. The second hand sweep isn't the point of a mechanical watch, it's just a function of it, if it has a seconds hand. Not to mention "dead beat" complications that sell for crazy money.

so, your point is that sweeping second hand is to prove to other that you are wearing an AUTOMATIC watch, otherwise they will think you are cheap quartz moron.
your personal satisfaction is not as important as other people opinion about you.
I'm not the intended recipient of your comment, but I have to admit that I agree with him. It just seems silly to omit the seconds hand on any watch, especially an automatic watch. It's just a cool feature. And usually l personally, I don't wear an auto so others will notice, I wear them because I noticed and love to watch the seconds have sweep across the dial.

I have to assume that they didn't modify the movement to remove the seconds post. Might be a cheap fix to buy a seconds hand and have a watch maker install it. Probably 50 bucks all in. Even with that cost, this is a fantastic price for a Hammy with an ETA 2892 movement.
