I know its certified refurbished but one with 12th gen i5 Acer Swift 3 is at 414 at ebay. I bought 3 laptops from acer recently in past few months(2 for my kids and one for a relative overseas) and it looks really good. I got both Aspire and Swift and I like Swift lot more. Build quality and screen quality are much better on swift as opposed to Aspire.

This is a great deal for the specs. Even though the CPU is a couple generations older it will work perfectly for what I was looking for. My mother just wanted something she can play around on and do some word processing. This will work on perfectly

You can compare relative speeds at this website: https://www.cpubenchmark.net/cpu_list.php. There are other websites, as well. Have not checked on this specific comparison, but the 12th gen CPUs are a significant step faster than 11th gen CPUs. My guess would be that the 12th gen i5 is faster than an 11th gen i7. The 12th gen also run much cooler and use less power, so the 12th gen should have better battery life if the battery is the same size.
