I have two pairs of these. They're pretty sheer but that also means cool and lightweight. No one will pay attention to the zip off seam as the overhang flap covers it pretty well. They're also not overly baggy.

Folks will notice how thin and lightweight they are way before they suspect shorts. I'd say they're fine for office work. TBH, I think I've unzipped and converted to shorts maybe half a dozen times in having from for over 4 years.

If you're looking for comfortable and light pants then I'd suggest Costco and look for the Gerry brand hiking pants. They're awesome and $20'ish. Those are my go to.

I usually like to remove one leg to have the best of both worlds. Pants on one leg, shorts on another.

You're welcome.

Love these guys in the summer. They don't look *too* terrible, and on really hot days you can unzip the back a little bit to cool off. Think of the way some jackets have armpit vents.

Did you put these in the dryer? I always wash these on cold and air dry and haven't had any pilling even after years of use.

I like these ones from Costco for work.

https://www.costco.com/bc-clothin...05196.html

My local store had them for 50% off so I bought 6 pairs.

I love convertible pants but I hated these and returned them. YMMV, but as noted above they're really thin and sheer, definitely more about UPF than something you would want to hike in (or wear for casual pants or insulation). And the material is so shiny, Jemaine Clement should write a song about them.

I have those Costco ones. Very light and stretchy. Great for like $20-$25.
