Just FYI. This is replica not an official match ball. Maybe good for kids but not a good ball for league games or any competition games.

Sure, but you've got to keep in mind that this $8 ball, which usually sells between $20-$30, is more than enough for most situations. You won't see these at most college or higher-level competitions, but this is definitely the quality of ball you'll use in a rec leagues, pick-up game, and many high school level games.

Let's not forget that "official match" balls cost over $100 (usually well over $100) and even the replicas of those, at their best deals, are at least $30-40... and trust me, even those don't end up in rec leagues and pick-up games. Well, to be fair, I've seen those balls in rec leagues and pick-up games but by that time they're always really scratched/banged up and they're in worse condition than most of the $20 balls that are around. Suffice it to say, I'll have no problem taking this brand new $8 ball to my next pickup game while keeping my match ball in good condition for practicing at my local pitch.
There are some things better to not have at all than to have cheap. This ball would be one of those things. You can watch for a much better ball and get something under $20. Find a League or Top Training match ball replica.

Riiiiiiight... not having a ball is better than this $8 ball. Lol, are you serious? Because this is just ridiculous gatekeeping, if you are.

Do you think every professional in the world started off with $170 match balls? Because I assure you, they didn't. Most players, professional or not and especially internationally, started off with balls which were much worse than this. Where I come from, they'll play with almost anything big enough that will roll... this $8 ball would have been a godsend.

Also, did you even look at the ball? It IS a "match ball replica". This IS one of those balls that sometimes sell for under $20 but it was being sold for $8... which is a great prices for the kind of ball

Now if you're talking about the premium replicas (the ones with the grooved/textured covers like the true match balls), as I mentioned earlier, those never go for less than $30. Even when they get close to that price, no one is taking those to a pickup game or their rec leagues. I know, I'm not taking any of my premium replicas to those kinds of games... I'm saving them for practicing with people I trust to not kick it into a street, roll the ball on concrete, etc. I will happily take this $8 ball to my next pickup game and I assure you, it will likely be the ball that most people will want to play with.

You can get this ball directly from the Adidas site for $6 plus $2.99 shipping. I personally wouldn't buy one of these. They have no official rating (not FIFA Basic, not NFHS). This is something you'd get for someone who doesn't play soccer. I coach a U14 boys team and I wouldn't even get these as practice balls. The problem is they won't feel anywhere close to a game ball, and without a rating aren't guaranteed to last, maintain their shape, have the right weight, right hardness or right rebound. At a minimum I would purchase a ball with a rating of NFHS or FIFA Basic (formerly called IMS certified).

Now if I were coaching 6 year-olds I might buy the size 3 version for practice. However I would expect I might have to replace most of them the next season (the cheaper balls tend to deform rather quickly.

I specifically named the replicas as League or Top Training. Anything Adidas makes that isn't an Official Match/Pro Ball is designated as replica.

I literally would not buy Adidas' cheaper size 5 replicas. And I would not recommend them to anyone. See post above this one. Same feelings. It doesn't have to be club or competitive. Rec, too.

Kids using size 3 don't have much of a choice. There are size 4 Top Training balls. But size 5 -- I would never buy one. Paper thin covers, stitched (they absorb water), discolor easily (sun, mud, moisture), they feel like beach balls, super smooth covers (no texture), they get lob-sided, the bladders are not great -- I have many more complaints Stick Out Tongue They have started making some that are not stitched, but the QA and quality altogether doesn't hold up.

You can score a Top Training (newer versions are called League) size 5 ball for under $25 if you look around. We're talking about $6 vs. $20 or less (if you're patient). It's 1000% worth it. I can't guarantee you'll appreciate it, but I can guarantee it Stick Out Tongue

They also make NHFS approval balls, though I haven't liked them as much. Here's a Nativo ball for $25: https://www.soccerplususa.com/adi...ball-38256

THIS one recently was a steal and a half $12: https://www.adidas.com/us/ucl-lea...E3771.html
