These are perfect for just charging your phone/tablet/laptop. The USB 3.1 10gbps cables are much thicker and much much more expensive, so these do serve a purpose. You can always carry a small USB 3.1 cable for high speed data transfer and then one of these for your wall charger.

I have loved monoprice since they first started and have always recommend them to people. However, that changed when I got one of their usb C cable and I'm pretty sure it burned out one of my USB C ports on my laptop. Looked at the cable end by the USB C port and the connector was singed. I posted a review about it with a picture of the damaged and monoprice REMOVED the review. I'm done with them as far as cables are concerned. Edit: To clarify, I have used multiple other cables from other vendors including Dynex and Anker and have had ZERO problems with that same charger.

You'll be fine. If a cable is specced for 60w, it has the internal bits to negotiate that power. If it doesn't have those bits it'll give lower power.

If I were you, I'd get a 100W version of 3-pack 6' cables for $9. Thicker wire = less voltage drop in the cable.

On that note, how do people generally keep track of the rating on their cables. There's not a standard color code, can you tell by thickness?
