I'm on t-mobile magenta max. Apple iPhone 13 pro max. T-Mobile I get 2 bars and spotty reception. I've been hearing good things about Verizon and Xfinity at this place we just moved to.

Thanks for posting this. Giving it a trial and so far I'm loving it compared to T-Mobile. I'm pretty sure I'm going to switch before the trial is over 😂
Good things about xfinity? I guess there are some data cap and weekly outages enjoyers out there

I assume you mean big, and download speeds were only slightly faster than xfinities and coverage was essentially the same which is to be expected. Since Xfinity piggybacks off Verizon but it was nice to have hands on comparison. I'm happy to know that Xfinity is on par with Verizon and not severely throttled.

the funny thing is that most non-verizon phones will not have the verizon ultra band (unless I'm mistaken)
Who cares about the ultra band. It's almost not worth it. Only if you want to stream in a stadium or so. Ultra band wafes don't travel very far. Concentrate on low band (rural areas) and mid band.

I tried the Verizon home 5G internet 30 day trial and it was 300mbs minimum as promised, I had to cancel it because it was not as fast as my Xfinity service, after I canceled they said wait for the special return box with lable to send home 5G equipment back and it will take 7 to 10 days to get the box and you only have 30 days to return or you will be charged 650 equipment fee. 2 weeks passed and no box showed up, I call led their 800 number to find out they have 52 dollar bill I asked them why I canceled before the 30 days trial end they checked and they said they will adjusted to zero. I told them what about the box I did not receive it and I am running out of time can I just get the lable and use the box that the equipment came in they said ok will email the lable I check my email they sent a link to access my account that is not working any more to access the lable I told them the account is not working can I have as a PDF file to print it they said they can't .then they told will mail you the lable. Waited an waited and notthing came . I called them again and they said no you can not use the box it has to be special box and we will make a note on your account about not receiving the box and will send you another box with lable. Few days ago I got the lable but not the one with the box and it is obvious made for returning phone not home 5g equipment. Now I have to go back again and call them.. it will be the last time I deal with Verizon I thought Sprint was the worst company but apparently Verizon is as them.

So as a consumer, I just need to be prepared to go through the effort to file an FCC complaint and it will be all good?
Not guaranteed; but my tracfone complaints have always been resolved.

PS the complaints become public, so non't give too much personal info.

My success was mixed.

I filed 2 FCC complaints against Total Wireless last year (after they had already been acquired by Verizon).

I also filed 1 BBB complaint against Total Wireless last year (after they had already been acquired by Verizon).

Basically, indentical facts for each FCC case (re. qualification for unlocking handsets for phones activated in 2022 and after 61 days had elapsed).

Total Wireless (which shares a fair amount of website and backend IT system infrastructure with TracFone) was a hot mess.
Likewise, the Total Wireless customer support organization was a hot mess.

One FCC complaint was resolved satisfactorily to me. The second, not.

Note: Total Wireless was susequently rebranded as Total by Verizon. No surprise to me, as Total Wireless was corrupt, and people were catching on. I suspect Total by Verizon remains so, but I will never try them to know for sure.

TracFone appears very similar to me:

The TracFone website and smartphone Apps (both Android && iOS) are a hot mess: Poor performance, inconsistencies & contradictory informational displays, ugly workflows - it goes on and on.

Likewise, the TracFone customer support organization is terrible.

So far though, no need to get the BBB or FCC involved from my perspective.

I am winding down my accounts on TracFone, and look forward to the day that is complete.

There are plenty of stories about incompetant and/or obnoxious TracFone organization behavior on other Slickdeals threads (as well as Reddit) that you can read for yourself.

This Verizon deal is for free service, so by all means indulge. Have a care if you give give them $ though.

Super expensive service cost after trial.
What is the point of testing it for 30 days?

Is there a way to prevent them from porting over your current mobile number? I am required to provide it but don't have a service that I am currently willing to lose. But I do have a spare phone with no service on it that I want to use for this offer.

Forget dealing with these companies directly. MVNOs offer way better prices. Us mobile is one for Verizon. Mint is T-Mobile. Plenty of options out there and for a standard user you should be just fine using one of them.

Helpful, and (mostly) agreed.
Deals like this one are great to 'test drive' a Service Provider's Network prior to picking an associated MVNO. It'll also give you an idea of how much the MVNO is being throttled below 1st-party customers.

In my case:
I'm almost out on my year of Mint Mobile (been very happy w/ them, BTW). -with their buyout by T-Mobile, I'm considering Visible Wireless (Verizon-owned MVNO). I use enough "High-Speed Data" to make Visible potentially worthwhile.
I'll probably be trying this Verizon network trial out on my Pixel 4a, to see how their coverage and speeds are in rural W WA.
