Beware the Scribe launched with half-assed software. Management really wanted to get it out before the holidays to get sales. It ended up getting some mixed and negative reviews as a result.

It's a really awesome device and it should get new great features in the future, but make sure it does what you want now, be willing to wait, or maybe wait until the software is a little better.

I'm no fan of Amazon, but I hope they put Boox out of business.
64GB Premium Pen Essentials bundle is cheaper than the individual version deal. $325 without trade-in. $260 with trade-in.

Long time Remarkable user and recent Scribe user best advice I can give:

Basic Pen:
The year is 1999, you are taking a test on a scantron paper with an HB2 pencil. You got stressed and clawed off the eraser. You can't make corrections like you had planned to when you flip it over and the metal ring that held the eraser rips through that paper.

Don't be basic.

The sale is for National Reading Month, so presumably until the end of this month.

Yeah, this is the deal to get really. My wife has been wanting one but didn't want to pay the high cost. A trade in of an old Fire Stick for 20% off really sweetened the deal.

I tell you guys, this black Friday I'm probably going to pick up a couple fire sticks just to keep around for 20% off offers.

I bought a Kindle Paperwhite from woot when I saw an offer on Scribe the last time for just that purpose. This deal made it even sweeter.

Why the Boox hate? I have Note Air 2, I use it everyday and it's become indispensable. If they ever come out with a color screen I would upgrade instantly. That's my only gripe about these e-ink note takers, I write my notations in bunch of different colors, some times I'll write a whole page only to realize at the end it's in red. Definitely the best thing I wasted money in 2022.

I have an older Boox note pro. Boox has its ups and downs, just like every other ereader. They are usually costlier than the competition, but they have more features as well. My gripe with them is that their device release cycle seems to be similar to Chinese phones: they have a short support cycle and hence they get outdated fast. Kindle scribe can be a better alternative to people who just want a bigger ereader + notebook.

Color e-ink screens are not yet a viable alternative to AMOLEDs or LCDs. Maybe the gallery 3 will be better (it has 300 ppi), but it has higher latency than the current color eink screens (which only has 100 ppi in color).

Downside is not payment plan option on the combo deal...

I like it for what it is, but it's just overpriced for the features it offers. I actually think the reading and writing experience are stellar, but it even lacks some basics like good note organization. I feel like they could have launched without all of the integration bells and whistles, but there was still one more iteration of software improvement needed to make it somewhat successful. It's a big kindle with basic notetaking in its current form, which doesn't justify a 3x premium over the basic kindle. If they launched for sub $200 it wouldn't suffer any of the negative feedback.
