I just purchased the kids version: https://www.amazon.com/Introducin...B08WPB8PW9

Already ad-free, so you don't have to pay the extra $20, and it includes a cover. (And functionally no different than the non-kids version).

And to answer your question, the price might go down to $95. Per Camel, that was the lowest price last year on black friday.
From the Amazon FAQ

5: Will my kid see Ads while using this device?

Kindle Kids is automatically set up for your kid to enjoy an ad-free experience. However if you exit Amazon Kids using a passcode, sponsored screensavers will be displayed on the device's lockscreen

A possible way to avoid this from a previous PW thread: https://slickdeals.net/forums/showpost.php?p=161214634&postcount=49
For me, 8 gb is enough for almost a hundred or so of text only books. on my old jailbroken kindle, i have dozens of books and a few pdfs, anime mangas and picture books and I have about 2.2 GBs left.

According to a website⋮
https://www.howtogeek.com/801844/...-a-kindle/

They assume 2MB per book, 6 GB of usable space on 8 GB kindle, at about 3k books.

Hope this info helps. happy reading!

To me, the question isn't just if the price will be lower on Prime Day. The question is, how will they code the sale price and discount for their Amazon devices on Prime Day? This only matters if you're trading in an old device. Sometimes the sale price will be coded in such a way that the 20% you get off for your trade in will come off the full price of the device rather than the sale price. This definitely seems to happen when the sale price is coded as a lightning deal, which is how it often gets priced around times like Prime Day. So that's the X factor in getting a better deal on Prime Day.

That said, it's still tempting to buy now with my trade in as my old paperwhite also offers $25 back - could they drop how much they offer me by Prime Day? I wish I knew.

Heads up - when you go to the "trade in" link on the page, it seems to be allowing a trade in of a lot more types of Kindle devices than usual. In the past, the items it would show that I could trade in for a Paperwhite were only old paperwhites or basic Kindle ereaders.

Today, it's also showing my Fire Tablets, fire sticks, and echo dots, Echo shows, etc, as items I can trade in! I don't know if this is something they will continue, or if it's a temporary deal, or if it's even a glitch. But that is a very good offer if you don't have an old paperwhite or basic kindle to trade in.

For me, it's also showing that the trade in could be applied instantly. This is very tempting, it's offering $25 for my 6th gen paperwhite, and I have no idea if/when that price will go down. They're only offering $5 for my newer 7th gen paperwhite. I have been holding out for prime day in hopes of a better shot at getting 20% for the trade in taken off the regular price rather than the sale price (as has happened for me many times at Prime day, something to do with how they code sale prices), but this is tempting. Definitely if I didn't have a paperwhite to trade in and only had an old echo or something, I would jump on this opportunity.

A great deal on the new Kindle Paperwhite with a 6.8" screen.

https://www.amazon.com/Kindle-Pap...148&sr=8-1

Just an fyi for the OP, you can get the 16gb version [amazon.com] in black for just $10 more at $109.99. And as someone else posted, you can get the 8g kids version for $109.99, and I'd add that you can get the 16gb kids version for $119.99.

FYI, if you tend to be frugal, you can use a cashback website to get another 8% back on the purchase.

None offer you 8% back on Amazon in general - you can get that back on Amazon devices only. The name was hinted at in my comment (in fact, if you're keen to "be frugal," you'll catch the hint easily).

Not bad. With my 10th gen trade-in, I got the 8gn Paperwhite and the black fabric cover for $82.34 shipped.

I really wanted the green one, but oh well. I'll live with black for that discount.

Is the trade in value applied instantly? I have an older Paperwhite to trade in and it shows $35. Do I get the gift card after buying the Kindle? And what about the 20 percent off? Thanks.

It was for me, but this varies for everyone - but you can check and see what they're offering you. Just click the "trade in" link and follow it through the prompts, on the last page before you finalize, info at the top of the box will state whether they are applying the 20% instantly or will only do it after your trade in has been received and appraised. If it's not instant, you can just close out of it without finalizing if you want.

The giftcard is automatically applied to your account before you buy the new device, as it's based on you having traded in a device, not what you buy. However, if they appraise the device and find it not in the condition you stated it was, they can reclaim the money they gave you.

Prime Day is at least 3 months away. So the question is only valid if you don't care about getting a kindle any time soon, or if your time is not worth any money
