These newer paperwhites let you play Audible books as well, and they will take up more space. And yeah, some people just like to have all their books on their kindle at the same time. If you're not doing audio, I don't see why you'd really need more than 8gb, but it also wouldn't hurt to pay $10 more just to have the space in case you wanted it later.
