This is an absolutely screaming deal specifically for the 64GB bundle that includes premium pen, leather folio cover, and power adapter in addition to the 64GB Scribe. Cheaper than lower grade bundles and even cheaper than the 64GB Scribe sold by itself.

The 64GB bundle is right now priced at $325.97

WIth trade-in, you get 20% off plus value of trade-in. I traded in a DX which only has a value of $5 (which is admittedly is daylight robbery) but the 20% off makes it quasi respectable. So without the trade-in value but including 20% discount, final price is about $260

All said, best deal for a scribe I've seen so far.

At this time, this is not a repost. This specific scribe bundle is better than the current 15% discount.

I have a current model Oasis and am itching to "upgrade" it but the scribe seems like it's built for a whole different use case. Maybe if I were back in grad school or something I could justify it, but as you point out, I don't think the scribe is gonna be good for holding in one hand for reading, especially as it has no physical buttons.

As annoying as it is for the Oasis to be the supposed flagship kindle device and yet not have a recent refresh, I guess I'll keep putting up with its micro-usb port and comparatively antiquated processor. That paperwhite *signature* has been tempting a couple of times, but, again, it's still more a gussied up midrange device than a premium one. I wonder if the Oasis is just in a peculiar class with too little demand for Amazon to do anything with.
just did the purchase.

If everything goes planed, here is the breakdown:
Paid $326+$26 tax=$352.
Should receive $75 gift card (from previous gen oasis) + $64 discount + $20 cashback from some site + $16 cashback from my amazon card = $175
Net is $177

7inch -> 10inch
8gb->64gb
no pen -> premium pen

great deal.

Just wanted to share that I got the replacement Scribe today and sure enough, there is a gap on the new one also, although not as wide. I now think this is a design flaw. I decided to keep the new one and return the old one for now and see how it is. The good news is that I started a return for the case because I really don't like it and will be getting $44 back. It's not worth half that IMHO. Heavy, cheap, top fold with a bottom pen holder is a pretty odd design. The even better news is that I started a return for the power brick and they made it "returnless". Got $12+ back and got to keep the power brick...which I don't really need, but free is free. $210 or so after tax in the end. Going to spend $12 on a simple clear case.
Same story here. The first one was bad, second one not as bad but still has a gap. I might keep it, but not very impressed with the build quality to say the least.

Somebody in reddit said he use two stylus nibs for just 60 pages of writing. Can somebody confirm? I know nib is consumable but that is a bit too little usage.

Nib replacement will cost a lot than books that can replace.
Yeah, brand new nib is almost gone after few hours.

Large gap around the screen is real. It is about 1mm, you can see internal frame. It will easily collect dirt, and even little spill can damage it. There is no rubber gasket between screen and metal frame.
Quote from lowfatwater :
Wonder if this is affecting all units. Design flaw? Anyone notice this on display units at BestBuy? Are there any third party products to remedy this? Like a screen cover with rubber gasket?

Maybe that's why they clearing them out?
Design flaw or could be a manufacturing specs error. The frame and screen don't fit together because the dimensions are off. I think it's just shotty altogether and Amazon decided to release it anyway hoping no one complains. I'll probably return mine, but not sure what will happen to my trade-in and 20%.

I am having trouble getting a retroactive 20% trade in discount applied. Amazon Customer service is giving me pushback. Has anyone else experienced this issue?

The Details: I initiated the trade in just before purchasing 03/25. The trade in screen said the 20% discount would be applied instantly (I have a screen shot). However, it was not applied, and I went through with the purchase to deal with it later.

I shipped the trade in and it was received and approved yesterday (20% plus $30 gift card).
I waited until after they approved it to contact them as that is what some previous messages here suggested

When I called the CSR said she could not apply the discount retroactively and a "team" would get in touch with me in 1-4 days.

So, not yet rejected, but not an automatic one call fix as I had hoped. I can always return it I guess and wait to apply the discount to the next sale.

after seeing this mentioned i looked and sure enough there is a small gap but it's symmetrical enough all around that i'm not sure it' is necessarily a defect particularly when the scribe, unlike the Oasis, isn't rated to be waterproof. i might not have noticed if i didn't see others mention the gap. or maybe i'm too lenient with expectations: :-)

Yeah, I do think the gap is inherent to the design. But, good news that your replacement is not as wide.

I'm curious about the case. I haven't opened any of my items yet, and am curious to the reality of the case. Did you open it and try it? I've searched out a lot of cases, and this official Kindle one is the lightest available, of cases that fully cover the device; that's an important factor being this is the heaviest Kindle.

I bought a $12 case and I prefer it to the official one. The Kindle and pen snap into place firmly instead of using magnets. But if you think you want to take the Kindle out of the case often, then the magnetic official case is probably the way to go.

I did try the case out and didn't like it, especially for the price of $44 after 20% trade in discount. You can open it and try for yourself and still can return it for a full refund. I ended up paying $12/ea for 2 different cases ...

KuRoKo Slimshell Case for Kindle Scribe 10.2" 2022 Released, Origami Standing Lightweight PU Leather Stand Smart Cover with Pen Holder for Kindle Scribe 10.2 inch-Starry Sky https://a.co/d/6VnIhtG

The clear case actually covers the gaps, except the right side because of the pen holder. It's really light, though doesn't protect the screen.

The other case weighs about the same as the official case, maybe a little heavier, but I like the notebook opening design vs top folding design. I intend to use this case when travel, while the clear case for home.

Thank you both for the feedback. It looks like $12 is the magic number for a decent case. I'll have to ponder these, but it's great to know you can get a case that cheap.

I'm actually tempted to grab one of these or something similar. The case is thin enough that the pen would still attach to the side according to reviews. It seems that it would cover the gaps all around.

That is nice because it's very light weight (4.2 ounces) and streamlined (no extended area for pen holder). In addition to a fully enclosed case, I could see this as a definite possibility. From all my research, the official Kindle folio cases are the lightest for a case with a cover, at 7.05 ounces.

I never did open up the charger when I got the bundle so I figured I may as well just return it with the "No longer needed" reason and they credited me $12.73 and told me to don't worry about returning it.

It was all done online in the return process form, took less than a minute. I kept the case because I actually like it and I am sure they will want you to send that back but the charger they just let me keep it plus issued a credit to my account. YMMV
