Yep, missing out on the smells, sounds, and all the precautions you need to take if you've lived in the developed world. If I didn't have family there, it wouldn't be a place I would visit for 'fun'. I treat it like a camping trip when I go. I treat most trips to developing nations like camping trips since I have to in order to not get sick.vomit Of course, ymmv.
Don't forget your roots are from that "developing country with smells, sounds"

Isn't that Indians boycotted Qatar Airways? No Indian with some self-respect shall fly on this airlines. Also how on earth one will dare to travel through Doha? Does any law exist in case you are in trouble?
Wow when and why did this ever happen? Why are Indians boycotting Qatar airways?

Great timing, my friend Sue Ellen Mischke is getting married in India, though she sent me un-vitation, at these prices I might as well show up with my friends and surprise her.

Eh, might wanna work on your immunity then! Born and raised here, and visited India several times without falling sick, ever!

Heck, I eat street food ( just avoid water - carry my own ) with zero issues!

Granted, I'm North Indian ( Punjabi ) so the focus of my visit isn't the South ( although Kerala is absolutely gorgeous!! )

As for smells, sounds, food that'd go right thru you AND make you sick et al.. as a New Yorker ( unfortunately ) we're all too used to it!
